'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Younes is a Pompey fan

It is quite simple really, with the right PA and saying the right thing you can make yourself a hero regardless!

Younes Kaboul telling The News that he 'didn't want to leave Portsmouth and I never asked anyone to leave the club' but did this because 'we needed the money' and he wanted to 'do what he could do to help' is spot on and shows what a top man Younes is.

The guy got a fantastic reception when he came on as a sub at the weekend, and I did see him glance over into the corner at one point. Chants of 'Younes, Younes', 'Younes is a Pompey fan, Younes is a Pompey fan' could be heard echoing round White Hart Lane.

At the end of the game he applauded the fans, the Pompey fans, exchanged shirts with someone - hopefully giving it back after as we cannot afford to keep giving them away! - and hugged most of the players and coaching staff as he went.

Like I say, it is so simple - say the right things, act the right way and you can totally change the common, sometimes misconception, about 'modern day footballers'. They are not ALL the same!

Although in all fairness I genuinely believe Younes when he comes out with these sorts of things - it was blatantly obvious how much it was meaning to him playing for us and how he appreciated the fans.

You might recall one of the 'protests' back along? Who was the one that came out to face the fans, despite being advised not to? Yep, it was him with a chorus of 'Younes is our leader' breaking out I was told.

He is a top man and a top footballer - it is just a shame that he will not really be appreciated where he is, this IS NOT a dig at Spurs, but lets face it the chances of him playing that regularly are pretty remote and I cannot see him being appreciated as a person, or footballer, as much there as he was here.

All in all it makes it all the more depressing thinking about another top all-round person, and quality footballer that DID want to be here, that we have lost due to the shambolic state of this club...

Well I am a big fan of Janice too!! Such a shame he had to go.

its easy to say things like that when hes gone, im sure he didnt lose to much sleep when he left. Its typical every former player comes out with that ***** when fixtures against there old club come up. It's always the old 'i always look out for there results' and 'i loved the fans' etc, bull***** really.

It's all sweetness and light in Tottingham I see!

I think he'll become a regular at Tottenham. Next season. I think he's "top, top" quality

It's no coincidence that the defense went rocky once he departed

I think Younis is genuine, and why not? The fans treated him well here, and we always chanted his name.

I think he's genuine too, he always gave 100% for us, and in our current situation its quite feasible that players have had to be sold who didn't want to go. I don't think Crouch wanted to go either, although he seems a bit more comfortable with it now. Younes was on his way to becoming a Pompey legend if he'd stayed longer, and even though he left is probably still in the top 3 for player of the season.

you see liamyid, whilst i get what you are saying i can say that - as a pompey fan HAVING seen how much things meant to him week-in-week-out - that i believe younes completely when he says what he says.

i never thought crouchy wanted to go, but after his celebrating of the goal he scored at the weekend i am not so sure now...as for younes being in the running for player of the season, without a doubt - crouchy won this back in 2001, or thereabouts, having left before the season went, perhaps younes still can?
