West Ham and AN other to join us?

West Ham and AN other to join us?

'So long as West Ham join is it does not matter who the other club being relegated is', not my vote, yours - although these findings from pompeyrug's poll are thoughts that I tend to agree with to be honest, but for two simple reasons - the two David's...

We are, albeit it not mathematically, relegated now - we have been since last summer really, and without a doubt since the 9pt penalty kicked-in, although to be honest I do not think we would have stayed up even had this not been handed to us.

So, we have Blackburn (h), Wigan (a), Villa (h), Bolton (a), Wolves (h) and Everton (a) left.

You look at this, and even given our state at the moment think '6 wins of the bounce is possible,' which technically - assuming the 3 clubs above us all lost or picked up minimal points - 'could' keep us up, so even though I confess in many ways I will be glad to see the back of the premier league that lingering doubt of survival, as minimal as it is, remains and you still want a 'great escape'...

Realistically though it is a case of 'stick a fork in us we're done!'

All that remains is, who will go with us?

In many ways it does not matter one bit, and being more concerned with Portsmouth Football Clubs future is the biggest worry. I have NOTHING against Burnley, Hull or West Ham as clubs personally but must admit that West Ham are a side I would like to see come with us...

Again, making it PERFECTLY CLEAR I have no issue with West Ham as a club, or their fans, it is merely David's Gold and Sullivan that have really wound me up in recent weeks - I would say they have probably would up a lot of fans, even their own...

They have spend more time talking to anyone and everyone about everyone else apart from West Ham, most of the time - if I were a West Ham fan I would be increasingly frustrated that they were talking too much about Pompey and Palace, and not enough about West Ham, in fact talking too much full stop!

So, for this reason, because of Gold and Sullivan, they are a club that if I had to pick to join us I would prefer - sorry West Ham fans, this is nothing against you.

As for the other side?

Again, I have nothing against either club but because of Dave Nugent, and his shoddy attitude towards Pompey and in particular us, the fans, who were the ONLY ones that supported him that is reason for them to go, then again Hull have the Scummer Iain Dowie in charge...

  • What the poll asked - we are probably down; who would you MOST want to follow us?

  • How you voted - West Ham & anyone 44%
    Hull & Burnley 20%
    Do not really care 16%
We will still stay up! 5%
    Hull & West Ham 5%
    Burnley & West Ham 5%
    Hull & Wigan 3%
    Burnley & Wigan 1%
    Burnley& anyone 1%
    Hull & anyone 0%
    Wigan & anyone 0%
    West Ham & Wigan 0%

Before we move on what are your thoughts on what the last poll concluded? You know what to do, thoughts below please guys...

Not Burnley then? Must be a high anti-Hammers contingency that I'm aware of on this site. Maybe other club's fans voted again.

I think it was more a case of people voting for who they want to go down as against who they think will.

i hope its Burnley & Hull only because they are less likely to go straight back up & woud pose less compition for us ,not that i think we will be any position to go straight back up . i think WHU would be more likely to as they already have thier investor
    29/03/2010 14:50:00
like i say i voted west ham - and only once - purely and simple because of gold and sullivan, especially sullivan! the pair are a bunch of muppets.
rob, i would not be so convinced by west ham 'going straight back up' - given their financial state they 'could' end up in a position as bad, if not worse than us...

West Ham are more than due a relegation after the whole torrid Carlos Tevez affair, in which Sheffield United unjustly took their place. Plus it would be very amusing to see the Two Daves falling on their backsides.
    29/03/2010 16:17:00
I went Burnley/Wigan. Wigan just annoy me and Burnley because of that waste of space Nugent.
    29/03/2010 17:22:00
I used to have a soft spot for West Ham but I think its a sore spot these days. Didn't help I used to work with the most annoying and loud-mouthed West Ham fan in the world - also the whole Tevez affair didn't help, but it is the recent Sullivan comments that have really ticked me off, I'm glad Zola might be staying because I really want them to lose all their matches for the rest of this season and join us in the drop.

    Hammers and Burnley
    The Fear
    30/03/2010 08:40:00
shame the scummer will stay up, but i would take that The Fear! as said, without anything against west ham or their fans, for the simple reason those muppets are in charge i want them to follow us - i will feel for the pain their fans WILL feel in the months ahead, as that club will be in trouble, but will not feel for gold or sullivan!

    Another loan for Oxlade-Chamberlain

As I think we all know by now Oxlade-Chamberlain is the son of former Pompey winger Mark Chamberlain and the brother of Arsenal's & England international Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Cook - Notts County another tough game

Pompey's form at Fratton has been impressive this season with our home return coming against Notts County off the back of wins at Leyton Orient and a point at Plymouth last Saturday.

Tollitt confident he'll have a Pompey future

Cook's already said the loan Tollitt is undertaking with Tranmere doesn't mean an end to his Pompey career as this isn't a forerunner to a Blues exit in the New Year.
