And the premier league has not hurt football?

And the premier league has not hurt football?

Richard Scudamore IS right today when he says that 'rank bad mismanagement' has aided Pompey in the potential plight to oblivion, although having crooks, and some HAVE been proven convicted fraudsters, running a club that the premier league ALLOWED has clearly not helped us either has it!

So, do not look to shift all the blame onto Portsmouth Football Club dicky! Pompey might have 'hurt the premier league' but what has gone on, and the actions - or non-actions - of you guys - for us and for football in general - has not really done a lot to help us, who feel pain you could not imagine!

We all know that Pompey have been an 'embarrassment' to the premier league - then again do they not think that the charlatans running us have not been an embarrassment to US! Although Scudamore and co HAVE, even if they will not admit it, brought a fair amount of this 'chaos' and 'farcicalness' on themselves...

Their own 'fit and proper' tests have allowed a string of 'unfit' owners to come in, and their own willingness to do all they can to ensure we see the season out, for me, is not helping us in the long-term at all - as said countless times, being able to 'sell players' now and having money 'advanced' does little, or nothing, to help our long-term future.

Also the fact that they allow clubs to spend whatever they want whenever they want WITHOUT looking to enforce some form of rule, something like you only being able to have a percentage of your income being spend on wages for example, continues to let the English game at the highest level spiral out of control - with the knock-on affects rippling through the leagues and causing all manor of problems.

The premier league HAS, and will continue to, ruin football as long as it is allowed to carry on the way it does - lets make no doubt about this.

The 'best league in the world' has a lot to answer to, and whilst I might have been critical of the likes of Seep Blatter and Michel Platini in he past over various issues, in many ways - even if I might not agree with it all - a lot of what they say and push onto the English game is right really...

Again, I AM NOT looking to shift (ALL) the blame for what has happened to us onto the premier league, we cannot do that as people that were 'meant' to be running this club are the major culprits, they are not going to shift it away from them though either!

The premier league DOES have a lot to answer for so I am not going to sit here and let Scudamore and co come out and try to absolve the premier leagues 'whiter than white' image of having nothing to answer for - they DO have so much to answer for, both with our case and the wider crime of helping to 'kill off the English game', well at least outside of the promised land, and even within it I am sure they would rather cherry pick the cream of the crop...

I'm sorry Rug, your " I'm not looking to shift all the blame" implies the PL hold the majority of responsibility- that is a joke. Pompey failed to manage their business, Pompey failed to manage the club in a proffessional manner, Pompey Falsely tried to re-interpreate the law to avoid tax & VAT, as you well know the crook Azougy was not an owner therefor not subject to F&P test, finally Scumamore did NOT set Pompey's wage bill. Scumamore is a self serving prat , it's wrong but are you surprised if they do want us out of the PL . Pompey KNEW the rules before and KNOW the rules now.time for Pompey to accept responsibility or we will be in the same boat in 5 years time & if people thinks that's not possible please remember, we have been here TWICE before!

You're right, they should never have allowed it, but the blame has to be 99% Pompey, 1% Premier League.

russ, it is a difficult one as i found myself writing this as a pompey fans and a football fan in general - the premier league HAS and WILL without a doubt continue to kill football in this country unless major changes take place...sadly, with the biggest deal ever in place for next season even more money is going to be coming into 'the best league in the world' which will them impact through the leagues and no doubt lead to other clubs 'chasing that dream'...
i like to think i have 'tried' to make it fairly clear, maybe not so much here, but in general that we MUST look at those that have been 'running us' for the major blame, not that laying the blame helps, but i AM NOT having scudamore come out and say 'portsmouth have hurt the premier league' looking for HIM to shift all the blame squarely at our door when the premier league is a monster in itself and they have too made faults.
i have not said the premier league are to hold the majority of the blame tho, i simply said it is wrong for scudamore to be looking to lay all the blame at our door for what has gone on...

The Premier League Is a bunch of old doddering fools. Most IMO have passed their sale by date so long ago that it is embarrassing. Scudamore reminds me of our former leader inthe way he looks to blame everything on anyone that moves other than himself. The money that is coming into their coffers is supposed to be for the benefit of the beautiful game. Not for the benefit of the few at the head of the table. The feudal system was supposedly killed off many a long year ago. It may well have been but the Football Authorities have brought it back with a vengeance. Nobody can explain to me the fairness of parents all over the country watching their children turning towards the Arsenals,Liverpools,Chelseas and Manchester Uniteds when that is all we ever see on television. Nobody can show me how it is morally correct for the big few to get bigger whilst the rest of us shrink in comparison. Either that or risk complete oblivion when overspending to compete catches up with you. The Premier League has a hell of a lot to answer to and I can see the day coming when we will have to force the issue. If every fan in the country other than the supporters of the big boys cancelled their Sky Sports packages the company would immediately be pushed into altering the way that they operate. Trouble is that this would never work because we are all too selfish.

Well said SFC. (3 times as well!) The premier league held a meeting with a select group of Pompey fans and assured them that they were trying to help Pompey - and a few weeks later they were talking about a £1million fine, just when we were trying to get new owners. Just shows how much contempt they hold Pompey fans in (if not all fans of non top 4 clubs). I am starting to really dislike the premier league and I'm not sorry we're out of it. Football has to get its house in order, and one way is to not allow clubs to be in debt beyond their means. Owners would have to finance clubs by capitalising the money, like Abramovich. If they want their money back they have to improve the value of the club and get it back when the sell. And something needs to be done about agents, and kick-back payments (or whatever you call it, 'bungs'?) on transfer fees for football club and managers, as it appears this may still be going on.

sky is getting cancelled in this household at the end of the season - in many ways it SHOULD have been cancelled months ago as sky sports is rarely watched tbh. sky one if probably the only channel that is seriously watched on sky in our house...

Got a bit of a computor blip keeps happening at the moment. Thing that I don't understand is why all of these irregular payments wern't picked up when the police and god knows who were going through the books eons ago. For me it smells.

What do we hope for from the rest of the season?

There seems to be a lot of unhappiness around, despite a pretty decent season in my opinion. Well, certainly our best season in a long while.
