npower here we come!
Come on guys, lets face it - once again I am NOT being negative, just realistic - we would have now been relegated this season with or without any points penalty really, although with the premier league now CONFIRMING that we WILL have a 9pts penalty as a result of administration that has been virtually confirmed...
We cannot say Fizzy pop league here we come, as it is changing from the Coca-Cola to npower championship next season isn't it!
These points will be deducted immediately after the premier league met this morning, with the news confirmed to a Pompey delegation that included Admin Andy and David James.
At least we now know for sure!
Lets just get on with the season, look to salvage a little more pride from the campaign and HOPEFULLY take a few more scalps, especially at Fratton, as we have not had many league victories to celebrate this season have we.
Then again we could still pull of 'the greatest escape in the history of greatest escapes in the history of the worlds greatest escapes ever, EVER'...
Like I say lets hope to get some more points on the board but the main focus will be the FA cup, lets enjoy our Wembley day out, lets also hope we get another display on Sunday April 11th to see us return again in May! What a result eh, and in many ways a fairytale if we could pull that off!
All in all though, whilst you never want to be relegated, I cannot say that I am too gutted by the fact that this is almost nailed on now. HAVING a club is the most important thing to me and that will do me whatever level we are playing at. In many ways it is back to something like 'real' football too, I am sure much more enjoyment will be seen on the whole too...
Although I cannot finish without saying MUCH focus - as I am sure it is - must be put on things to ensure that we start next season on 0pts, and not -10, -17 or whatever it could be...

Absolutely the main thing is to be out of administration before the deadline to avoid a further points drop in the no power over priced utility league!

Tis a sad thing no doubt, but certainly not unexpected. It is sad for me as it means no games for at least a year bugger it all, Hope we come straight back up!!!! Will have my fingers crossed tho....PUP

Well I am glad that it is the end to another part of the story, and that all we have left is a new owner before we can get back to just thinking purely about football.

Call the league what you want, quite gutted our time is up in the prem. Yes it's important we start on zero points come August but we will need to buy a new squad in the summer. We won't have much left once all the loans, 1 year contract & sellable players go.

Matt you aare right, its now we need someone to sart the search for manager and players, our are mostly loaners or will be sold to pay off creditors. I see Peter Storrie is doing his kevin and perry teenager bit ITS SO UNFAIR

I've thought relegation was a possiblity most of this season, so it hardly comes as a shock, and tbh I couldn't see us getting out of it without the deduction. We also knew it was the price to pay for going into admin, which was the way to avoid the club being liquidated. I have said before, when staring down the barrel of winding-up that I would love for us to be playing in the championship next season, because it means we still have a club who are still playing. After all there was talk of the pheonix club ground sharing with Havant-looville! Instead we start looking at travelling to Cardiff, QPR, Leeds Utd . . And the football might be more fun too. Most important of all, it will still be Pompey and we will still be Pompey fans.
