'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Were NOT going on a European tour...

Even if we qualified to the Europa league next season we WILL NOT be taking part in it as we have 'declined' to apply for the 'required uefa club license'.

The News says: 'Pompey have declined to apply for a required Uefa club license for next year - a decision that has been confirmed by both the Premier League and FA.

'It means, regardless of their FA Cup progress, they will not be let in.

'The yearly Uefa club licence is designed to ensure clubs meet minimum standards in order to compete in their competitions.

'Pompey had until March 1 to apply.

'However, with the club in administration, it was not in a position to submit its accounts to meet criteria.'

Again, and according to The News, the 'minimum requirements' include youth football development, coaching standards, stadium and training facilities, audited accounts, settlement of debts and additional financial disclosures.

As we would 'struggle' to meet many of these we have not even bothered - with the premier league and FA 'said' to have confirmed this...

I have to say that I am gutted as the thought of another European tour was fantastic, as I loved the trips to Portugal and Germany last time, as well as of course the games at Fratton - none more so than the visit of the mighty Milan!

But, hey ho - que sera, sera and all that.

To be honest I am content enough with a return to Wembley, and in all honesty 'if' we could go on and lift the cup again that WOULD be MORE than enough for me really when all is said and done...

I thought this might of been the case a few days ago, shame to see it confirmed, great excuse to get away in Europe somewhere for a few days with the lads. :-( Day out at Wembley will have to do then ;-)

Having been fortunate enough to do all 3 Wembley games & all 3 european away games in 2008, I feel quite fulfilled with that. However for those who couldn't/didn't last time, it is a shame we won't have the choice this time.

I think this will be a bit of a blow for some, I also think that it was the reason Avram would not discuss leaving; now that European football is not on the agenda he will depart at the last home game, hopefully that can be wembly

It's probably for the best European football would put a starin on a paper thin squad. Not to mention extra expense. Although the article says Pompey declined to apply for the licence it later says they couldn't meet the criteria because audited accounts weren't available because of administration. So they didn't decline to apply they couldn't apply which is a different story all together.

So they are saying that we passed all these tests last year!!! I pass.

The 'minimum' requirements 007 must be very minimal ;-)

Steve C .. I read it exactley the same way as you mate.. we 'couldn't' rather than 'didn't'
