'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Thanks Fabio!

Whilst I will admin I would really liked to have seen David James play for England last night, ultimately we have to be 'happy' that he did not really...

Remember the last time James went away with England, and actually played for England?

He came on against Ukraine when Rob Green got sent off and was then laid low with injury after that as he missed the next England game and then some of ours - a mixture of 'injury', 'illness' and 'contractual' issues meant he has missed large portions of this season. He is making up for it now though, even if he missed out last night...

It is often 'said' that James struggles to play 2 games per week, so 'if' he had turned out for England would he have then struggled to be fit for the Birmingham FA cup game this weekend?

To be honest, like I say as much as I would have liked to see him play for England I want to see him play against the Brummies in the cup more!

So, in many ways it is 'thanks Fabio Capello,' I always thought he has developed a soft spot for Pompey over the years...

The selection of Green ahead of James, and Joe Hart for that matter, must now make him the 'favourite' to be the no.1 at the world cup but James still has time and if he continues to perform for us for what is left of this season as he has recently he will, at the very least, be going to South Africa.

If he plays his part at the weekend then he could be on for a quick return to Wembley, and who knows 'might' well head off to South Africa as a relegated player but with another FA cup winners medal in his pocket perhaps...

Whilst talking about England, as well as James and Pompey most importantly, I may as well do some 'self promotion' and point you in the direction of Vital England - here!

Got to agree, last thing we need is him getting injured. Probably in view of his injury, virus and the clear contractual ranglings going on didn't help his chances and in fairness on current form Green is probably the rightful No1 at the moment.

Still think Jamo is number 1. Let's face it Green had very little to do last nite. But yes grateful Jamo is fit for Saturday.

Just because Green had little to do, doesn't mean he should be dropped...

Good good!

No problems. With all the clean sheets he's going to keep until the end of the season he's bound to be off to SA ;-)

DID you see hairdo! The hairband was very fetching I thought (not).

The hairdo is mad isn't it, Gandor! Mind you he had hair approaching that, perhaps not so big when we won the cup 2 years ago, so it might be an omen. The fact that Jamo seems to have to fight for his England place is very good news for us, he has to produce top form and he's always at his best when that's the case. I really hope he does it and plays in a world cup winning England team this summer, before he calls it a day on the internationals.
