So, we now know that administration has now been officially confirmed...
No doubt about it this IS NOT a 'silver lining' or a 'cure' to our problems and does not give us an entirely 'clean slate' or 'canvas' to work from as we still face a mammoth task ahead of us and coming out of admin is not going to be easy at all, there is a distinct possibility we might not do this at all and if we do the threat of 'further points penalties' next season is a very real one, which in itself would make survival even in The Championship a mighty tough task with back-to-back-relegations very much on - yet survival as a club is what means most of all to us, right?
Whatever these threats are you have to ask yourself will 'stressing' over it all alter this?
In all honesty you have to say NO!
You also have to ask yourself will you carry on going, will you keep offering the support and 'could' this make a difference?
I would have to say YES and then HOPE it could make that difference!
We cannot go into this with our head in the clouds, or in the sand for that matter, thinking that we will come out of this 'smelling of roses' and everything will be 'fine and dandy' but we DO know that the support we offer is 'renowned', that in itself gives us a 'fighting chance' of this being enough for somebody with the courage and foresight to see us as being a fantastic proposition, right?
Even more so now, than had been said previously, we ARE in the shop window, although we are now in the last chance saloon shop win, yet all we can now do is give our utmost support to the club and show those looking on, with a possible interest in us, that despite everything that has happened our love and support for the club goes on.
I know it sounds like the 'ideal world' situation and stuff of 'fantasy' or 'fairytale' but lets not throw in the towel, if our support remains as fanatical as it has been despite the fact we now know we are well and truly on our last legs there MUST be another 'Milan' out there willing to take that chance on us and save us from extinction!
Although lets ALSO make it pretty clear that we are in for one hell of a tough ride over the next few years I think - and I would not be at all surprised to see us go into next season on a -10, -15 or -20 start. The 'glory days' are going to seem a million miles away and I think that people will have to be understanding of this and accept what, and who, we have.
There are theories, and stories floating around about this administrator - and they DO NOT sound good, in fact VERY, VERY far from good and these ARE coming from a club - Swindon - that HAVE dealt with him before. FAR from being complimentary as some (mostly those who were closest to him - also least liked too) have been Pompey fans HAVE actually been warned that he is not a good one to have around! Far from it!
Then again none of us actually know why Swindon fans did not take too him? I have absolutely no idea, perhaps it was because the fans were not given more of a say, at the end of the day though a fans view and an administrators view do not always match do they - it is their job to make tough calls, perhaps these tough calls are calls that fans cannot, or would not, understand?
As I say, I have no idea, but all in all we have to let him do his job I guess?
Even so, it was my belief, maybe naïvely so, that it is the administrators job to come in and check out what is what, they do not and will not hide things or cover them up. So, if there is any salvation to be had with Portsmouth Football Club, as we know it, will he not find it and find the best buyer around? Not the first one that comes along proclaiming to be 'this or that' or a dodgy shyster or anything else shady...
So, do we not have to give whoever 'might' come in the benefit of the doubt and not automatically write them off as another 'dodgy dealer' or 'SAF' with the talk but not the walk - as said the administrator will look into things (you would hope) and if we can be saved they will keep us going as a going concern, if not they will call time? So if they do not call time surely anyone that came in would be vetted with a fine toothcomb to make sure that they are the real deal?!
Once again, admin is not a good thing by any means, serious cuts will be made and peoples lives altered drastically, but it is the best chance we have of a 'fresh beginning' so if there is a new beginning to be had they will find it, so OTHER THAN giving our best possible support to the club all we can do when the final whistle is blown is just sit back and see what they do now, pondering this or that situation will not make things any easier - we can play our part, but then we MUST let the administrator do theirs without second guessing them or thinking 'we know best', as lets face it, we do not, although we would also have to hope that the horror stories coming out about him are not true - then again these people telling them have lived these horrors, gulp...
Lets do our part to try and help attract someone to insure that, as this entity, this phoenix can rise from the ashes and start afresh.
