What Matters?

What Matters?

OK Ladies and Gents it is my turn.

Throughout the week ..

I have read articles about how similar both Pompey and Scummers are having faced (or facing) financial ruin
I have witnessed comments about how survival is (or is not) more important than 'one' match
I have been asked the unanswerable question of whether I would accept Pompey losing if it meant we could stay up.
I have listened to debates about which supporters hate Redknapp more

STOP ! - All of that is irrelevant hypothetical tosh

Winning or losing against Scummers will not save or kill us
One match can't alter our hopes of survival

IT'S ALL RUBBISH

The outcome of tomorrows game has no bearing on the long term future of Portsmouth Football Club .
But it does have a long term bearing on the hearts and minds of Pompey fans across the world and that is why it matters ..

What matters is a line in history
What matters is your neck hairs tingling as the teams take to the pitch
What matters is revenge
What matters is the chorus of 'Play up Pompey' as the game begins
What matters is XI men in blue rolling up their sleeves & getting stuck in What matters is the sick feeling you'll get when Saints 'go close'
What matters is 3500 fans singing 'Blue Army' from start to finish
What matters is Utaka's and Dindane's finishing
What matters is the feeling of dread should 'they' score
What matters is the relief when they don't!
What matters is the blue and the white
What matters is Jamie O'Hara's doggedness
What matters is the anticipation when we attack
What matters is 'Pompey 'til I die'
What matters is the feeling of joy when we score
What matters is the players playing until they drop
What matters is your fingernails
What matters is the final whistle
What matters is the score
What matters is holding your head high on Monday
What matters is bragging rights
What matters is pride
What matters is being Pompey

Yes dedmans it does but we have new boy Tosic to go in at left back which means we can unleash the roadrunner on the left side of mid-field.

"unleash the roadrunner" .. (lol) Moley .. We need his passion tomorrow .. but we need him on the pitch for 90 minutes too ..

(seriously) I've love ten minutes in front of the team before the match .. I've give then the history, the passion, and the pride to go out and stuff 'em.. guess I'll have to leave that to Avram.. I hope Linvoy is around with the team tomorrow though

Great article I hope Avram passes it round the dressing room before the game. I just hope the XI men in blue getting stuck in are the players and not some over-excited fans..... My prediction is 3-0 Pompey Utaka hat-trick. The boy will come good tomorrow...

Topping last seasons tally the aim

78pts was only enough for a play-off place last season so you suspect we'll have to better that for a top 3 finish this coming season, which begins with Carlisle at Fratton.

On this day in history...26th June

A look back at this day in history, and what was happening with Pompey courtesy of our sister site PompeyRama, 26th June.

Done Deal - Smith in permanently from Swindon

The interest Pompey retained in Smith, with him 'in our sights' has resulted in him returning to the Blues on a permanent basis after signing for an 'undisclosed fee' from Swindon.

Cushioning the blow

Much, that needed saying, about Webster's exit for Ipswich and the arrival of Clarke in return (and cash) has been said hasn't it? Doyle's been spot on with what he said.
