Serbian free agent 'linked'

Serbian free agent 'linked'

Another day and another player 'linked' with Pompey, despite the transfer window closing...

This time The News has Dusko Tosic, a Serbian left back, down as being a player that 'Pompey are reportedly hoping to tie up a deal for.'

I recall the name as having been linked with us in a loan capacity on deadline day but a deal could not be tied up, apparently.

Although now it is 'said' that the 25-year-old had his contract with Werder Bremen cancelled on Monday, so he has become a free agent and will sign an 18-month contract if he is given a work permit?

Ricardo Rocha is now training with the club so his move has moved closer - if it has not been sorted out? Quite why any player would want to play for free is beyond me, as that is what they are most likely going to do!

Also from The News today was a bit about David James with Avram Grant praising him for his loyalty to Pompey.

He says that having spoken to James that he wanted to stay, and this stay could extend beyond this season - well, this will be the case if he plays those extra games that he needs to in order to trigger that new contract. Although other 'talk' recently has said that negotiations are taking place about removing that clause in able to allow him to play out the season with us and keep his world cup dream alive...

PLAY UP POMPEY!

did anyone see Piers Morgan in Dubai last night, showed Sulaiman Al Fahim giving Piers the grand tour in his personal jet and Vesace Lamborghini and i thought who paid for those. Pompey could do with a bit of that.

Yeah that Peirs Morgan show was on last year when Fahim obviously did have money. I guess the answer to the question who would want to come to us would be that at least they are going to play 1st team football. A foreign player who is unlikely to get a look in at any other PL club can come to us and could shine and be in the shop window for others to look at. It will be good to get some cover at the back end if nothing else. Cleraly quality is better than quantity, but hopefully Avram has used his contacts to good effect and the players being linked are at least as good as the ones we already have.

Wasn't Tosic involved in a 'swap' deal and then failed to turn up at his new club? I think that's why his contract was terminated.

ruff, Cocis was not granted a work permit. It seems that we will let go. However, Tosic and Rocha are very likely to be signed, again, only if they get a work permit. Rocha has also passed a medical and is at the club.
