Pompey slipped to a, if not at all unexpected to be honest, defeat at Citeh yesterday but even so as Avram Grant told sky sports he was happy enough as he felt we were the better side.
Although he was not happy with the chances we missed: 'it was a strange game because I think we were the better team. We created two big chances when it was 0-0.
'When they scored in my opinion their first goal was offside and their second goal was from a foul.
'We had a good performance but when you play well and create three or four chances you have to take them.'
His own future continues to be the 'subject of much debate' but this was not something that he would talk about as he feels 'the club, the team and the fans' are the most important thing - although, and maybe not so much from what he told sky but from what I heard elsewhere on the radio on my way home it does 'seem' as though he will be staying?
Rugs thoughts...
To be honest it was not a great game, and Citeh - you would think, at least they would hope - 'should' have had another couple of gears to go up, which maybe we should have taken advantage of the fact that they did not?
Then again there lays our problem I guess, we DO NOT have these extra gears to slip into... We do lack that little bit of quality, but still have enough to battle through. We MUST take our chances though.
Even so I would take some positives from this to be honest, a defeat - as much as you should never accept this - was something that was expected, so lets not be 'surprised' by it, but lets now make sure we DO finish off sides we are more than capable of beating, it is NOT over yet, watch out Fulham!
