O'Hara on his return

O'Hara on his return

As previously said any 'crumb' of 'good news' needs to be grasped with both hands at the moment it seems, and the loan return of Jamie O'Hara seems to be the only 'good thing' happening over the past 24-48-hours - things will 'probably' not get much better in that same time period forward in time!

Well, O'Hara is back on loan until the end of the season and, as he told The Pompey Site, he is excited by this as this was the only thing he wanted to do - despite the opportunity to stay with Spurs, as he says Harry Redknapp wanted him to: 'I'm delighted to be back. I really enjoyed playing here in front of Pompey's fantastic fans.

'As soon as the transfer embargo was lifted I was hopeful that I could come straight back.

'Harry Redknapp wanted me to stay at Tottenham but I`d rather be playing every week in a relegation scrap than sitting on the bench.'

Premier league survival this season is looking doubtful, and the more players that move on the less likely this would appear to be - although survival full stop is out main concern at the moment, right?

Even so O'Hara says that he would not have returned to Fratton if he did not think we could stay up: 'I still think we can do it otherwise I wouldn't have come back.

'It might take me a couple of games to get back to full match fitness because I haven't been playing at Spurs.

'But I've only missed two Premier League games for Pompey and I'm hoping to carry on where I left off.'

Here is hoping you can!

I am glad to have the guy back, I would be lying if I said otherwise - although clearly 'off-the-field issues' continue to dominate matters and cause most concern for the fast majority of us! The 'on-the-field issues' just seem to be a 'by product' in many ways now, as it is these off-the-field problems, and those causing them/not easing them, that threaten our existence most of all!

The whole Younes Kaboul and Asmir Begovic to Spurs moves has taken on another 'mysterious turn' in recent times though, for starters has it or has it not gone through?

Most seem to think it has but as USUAL officially we are the last ones to know!

Peter Storrie had been claiming that he and Avram Grant were 'completely in the dark' over the whole issue on Thursday. He backtracked slightly on Friday yet that was also the day that Redknapp first 'claimed' that Grant knew all about the deal and was 'happy' with it - if he had not been he said he would have 'pulled out' of the deal...

Various 'reports' today say that Grant is walking, others say that he is staying - at least until after the Citeh game, whereas a few are saying that he will stay as long as David James is not sold, with James happy to stay?

What a sad and sorry state of affairs this club is in, yet as always WE are left powerless to do anything!

It would seem RUG that we are on a rather large and slippery slide, it is really hard to hold on to a single bit of enthusiasm at the moment, still I spend huge amounts of my waking day wondering what is happening now, but I can feel the vultures circling overhead, its not a nice feeling, stoked to have O'HARA back as he has been one of the few decent players we have had this season, how many games will he get? I guess that depends on how long the club can hold itself together, its a *****e situation!!!!!

Well even though we're up to our necks in the HP sauce lookalike stuff, it's nice to hear that Jamie still loves us...not that we ever doubted it. A REAL professional.

Some sources are also saying that Dindane is returning despite his parent club not liking this! Should he return, another body in the team I guess that can 'be in the right places to miss'!

Good to see O'Hara back and he believes we can stay up I am not going to argue with him.. as for the other off-field mess I am just sooo bored with it all .. there's nothing we can do other than sit back and watch Agouzy & co asset strip us and pocket the money .. but for whom.. That is the BIG question..

No More Quarter Final Replays For Pompey

Should Portsmouth progress through to an FA Cup quarter final from the 2016/17 season onwards, the game will no longer be subject to a replay.

On this day in history...27th May

A look back at this day in history, and what was happening with Pompey courtesy of our sister site PompeyRama, 27th May.

Chesterfield's O'Shea targeted

Although so far Pompey have had two bids turned down for Chesterfield's O'Shea. Will, assuming another bid (as it's expected) is made, it be third time luck for the Blues?

It wasn't Real Madrid but Bristol City isn't bad!

Contrary to what I just wrote (muppet that I am) this isn't at Fratton this is at Ashton Gate with Pompey heading to Bristol City on Saturday 30th July, with a 3pm kick-off.
