David who?

David who?

Quite if David James will EVER complete his move to Stoke remains unknown?

Twice this has 'fallen through' and looks as though it could fall through again as he has now picked up another injury that will keep him out for a week or 2, which would seriously threaten his chances of a move to Stoke - if that is even what he wants?

Whatever though, and even if he does not go could he get back in ahead of Asmir Begovic, by right, with or without an extension clause as the youngster continues to show fantastic form, as Avram Grant told The News: 'I think he did well. He is a young goalkeeper who is doing well. He made two great saves.

'They came at moments when we were controlling the game, so it was even more difficult.

'He is doing well and is a good goalkeeper.'

To be fair I think Grant is right, until his save from Frank Nouble, who should have scored when clean through, and the follow up from Alessandro Diamanti we were in control but that is when we lost our heads and went nuts as a result and were then all over the shop.

His best of the night was saved to deny Jack Collison when he turned his effort around the post for what looked a truly outstanding save. He also denied Nouble in the 2nd half as well and his handling and command of his box is improving ALL the time - his distribution needs some working on, at times he waits too long to get a move going but at 22 he still has plenty of time ahead of him.

I would say without a doubt Begovic was the man of the match for those saves alone so I would expect him to be announced at the 'official Air Malta man of the match' sometime today...

100% Agree, he was my Man of the Match too. A few years ago, i was at the training ground, and he was an unheard of then. A coach there (Sorry dont know who), told us "The Young Keeper Begovich is going to be massive, he is probably the best keeper i have seen at this club". Looks like he was right

I think Begovic is by far the biggest asset that Pompey currently own. If he keeps playing the way he is t the moment he will be snapped up in the summer, no doubts about it.

I agree with what you say about his distribution Rug, thing is the position we're in at the moment means he isn't going to risk anything when he has the ball and is going to make sure it gets to one of our players.

true moley but there where at least a couple of moments last night where we could have had a good counter attack and the oppertunity was missed because he held the ball to long.... otherwise definatly MOTM an awesome keeper and hope he stays for the foreseeable future

If Begovic did get motm it was only just as Kaboul (apart from the unlucky goal) was a colossus, and upto now he's been brilliant off the pitch too, as I've never heard him be vocal to the press unlike previous 'bigtime' charlies

There was also a shot in the final minutes where a West Ham player who was blocked from my view tried to squeeze a shot in at the near post and Beg was down quickly with a big left mit to turn it away for a corner. Great save. Interesting to see Robert Green joining the applause in the first half too - they talk about the keeper's union but not seen much sign of it of late.

Great future ahead for AB.

Begovic saved Grant a large chunk of embarrasment with a class display. I would prefer to keep him as the future and lose Jamo. Still annoyed about Grants tactics though, I reckon he's cost us 4 points with his tactically narrow formation/ experiment, players can't do it and surely the fact that we score when he drops it must tell you something. :-) Chix your highly connected go and tellim!

Nothing more to say, he is well on his way to becoming the finished article if he's not there already - Bosnia's number one!
