Even the future wants out?!

Even the future wants out?!

Not content with the 'present', the current here and now of the 1st team being totally ripped apart, the shambolic state of the club is 'said' to be ripping apart our possible future generations too!

Media reports today 'claim', with The Express 'claiming' to have had youngsters talk to them - PORSTMOUTH FACE UP TO LOSING STARS OF FUTURE: here, saying that the academy guys are so fed up that many want to 'rip up their contracts and quit' the club...

Academy training sessions are believed to have been cancelled repeatedly this year with the weather being used as the reason for this, although 'sources claim' that this is because the club have 'stopped paying for pitch hire' so there is nowhere for them to train anyway?

'Apparently' the kids have also been told that they 'must get lifts off parents or hire taxis, which they must fund themselves, to get to the club and matches' from now on with 'buses that used to collect the schoolboys from various pick-up points have been cancelled.'

The response, apparently, from the club about the bus service, and the non-running of this, is that we 'have swapped bus contractors recently and any cancellation in service is down to the changeover period...'

Sorry, but 'if' this really was our response are people REALLY going to buy this? It just seems to be one excuse after another with it ALWAYS someone else's fault these day!

We DO have plenty of highly rated youngsters at the club that we WILL lose if the latest 'talk' about developments at the club proves true - and talk about the academy side breaking up has been doing the round for a while now, this started with the 'restructuring' of the academy coaching set-up last year...

I guess with EVERYTHING else virtually covered, almost daily, moving onto the 'future' of Portsmouth Football Club was inevitable at some time, and 'if' there is as much truth to this as some would have you believe then a bleak future is looking bleaker by the day.

The more the club is dragged through the mud the harder it will be to attract ANY talent, young or old, in the future as who will want to sign up to a club that is as high profile as we are - for all the wrong reasons!

If the self-destruct button is being hit can someone PLEASE just get on with it and hit this now, stop stumbling around in the dark! What is the saying - 'if we were an animal we would have been put down by now!'

This one smacks of trying to keep the depressive ball rolling from a journo point of view... I'm sure there are issues - and it wouldn't surprise me but I'd rather have a club tomorrow rather than the stars of it.

Have to say I agree with Jim in as much as this is just heaping anything onto the blackest of black pictures just to make it even blacker still .. only yesterday the Academy were in Somerset training and playing a school XI ... That said if the club have said they have changed the bus service provider you do have to ask yourself why .. unpaid bills perhaps ??

Even if some of the 'stories' are false, there is enough damage happening that put this club back for many, many years to come. If we are forced to sell Fratton Park etc then it's goodnight to us all.

Yes Matt your ever present doom and gloom has reminded us every day for the past 18 months .. Why not just say good night now and leave the few of us left that are clinging to some hope to do so ...
21/01/2010 12:33:00
Matt - Sorry mate - You know you (somehow) manage to press my wrong buttons at times .. It's probably due to the fact that you warned me of all this mess well over 18 months ago .. but I bet even you didn't think it would get this bad eh ! .. Fancy a beer (sorry Brandy) before the game on Saturday .. I'll be in the Rutland from about 13:30 and in the chair - PUP

Well I hope we manage to stay up against all the odds, just so we can stick one up to Scudamore and co. They obviously don't want us in the PL as they have given us no help whatsoever after this latest embargo snub. What we need to do is to get relegated then sue the PL for with holding some of our funds illegally!!
21/01/2010 13:53:00
Well, they can't sell Fratton Park as that has been used as security for the Bellwhatever Chanrai loans.....or to put it another way........Our next owner already owns Fratton Park !!! PUP (for as long as you can)

I say, can we not have a bit of stiff upper lip on this site. Don't you all know that thousands of supporters from the leafy lanes around the Southampton area are reading all these cry-baby, ooh aren't we all sad that our hooligan-ridden (88 to have their passports taken away for the world cup finals) club will shortly cease to be. It's run down the curtain and joined the choir invisible. This is an ex-club. I know, but let's have a bit of dignity about it. We don't want to provide page after page of entertainment, do we? Let's all put our kettles on and have a nice cup of tea.
