James set to return?

James set to return?

So, I guess it is about time we talk about something ON THE PITCH football related, eh!

David James looked a nailed on certainty to leave Pompey last week, although as we all know his move to Stoke collapsed over financial issues and who would be accountable for wages, and how long/how much this would be for...

Now, with an FA cup game with Sunderland this weekend - HOPEFULLY! - the England man 'could' make his first Pompey appearance since the 1-1 draw at Sunderland in the league more than a month ago!

Asmir Begovic being 'dropped' would seem to be unfair - not that 'fair' has much place in football these days! - but it seems that the Bosnian is injured anyway, so James' chance 'could' come out of necessity as much as anything?

I will not hold my breath, on James playing OR the game even going ahead - with a waterlogged pitch expected to take another pounding this week I would not be that sure the game even goes ahead? Although PLEASE can we make a judgement on this on Friday as opposed to Saturday morning as this REALLY is unfair on us, and especially Sunderland fans who have a monster journey and deserve to know on Friday 'if' it would be wasted!

and the beat goes on... what do you say to the melodrama that is portsmouth. At least it might enourage a few teams in if he has a good game - if not it might mean a 60k a week millstone forever

Can't complain, he would be a decent No 2 !!!!!! Altho, if he wants away, his head might not be in the right place. PUP

As there's an injury to Begovic of course he should play! I'd love to think that I haven't seen him play for Pompey for the last time yet.

What about Ashdown then, surely the guy deserves a chance as he has been number 2/3 for ages. Bet the bloke is well gutted, been hanging on for years thinking that when James retired he would move up the ladder and the Begovic tips up. IF Begovic is injured then yes I guess James would and if his head is still in it for us get the start. I for one now will not be that sad to see him go as I reckon Begovic has become the rightfull number one now.

Hartlepool (a) - Safety first!

A win at Wimbledon made sure of a play-offs place. Technically we can finish in the top 3 but this would require an unlikely set of results from too many clubs wouldn't it?
