Is it time for Basinas?

Which way will you vote in the latest Vital Pompey poll, suggested by veccccio, as we try to gage what people think should happen to Angelos Basinas, and if he should play more regularly?

  • What the poll is asking

    Basinas to play regularly?

  • Which way to vote?

A creative influence is what we lack quite a lot, as he has this touch maybe you feel that he must play?

One of the big problems against Basinas is his age, even so could he do a job?

Compared to others like Hayden Mullins and Richard Hughes he is better, right?

Or do you think that the guy is washed up and ready for Zimmer frame and the retirement home?

To be honest, for me, he does seem a real steadying influence and quite clearly has quality about him, my concerns are that - unlike against Coventry in the cup - the guy WILL NOT get the time and space on the ball that he did against them, and with all due respect to Coventry, will come up against better quality players in the premier league so would he be as effective?

That said class is permanent right, and even if he does not have the legs, others around him do, do they not and his ability alone would make him a better option and more influential than the many others that are seemingly ahead of him.

All in all with the African nations in full swing do we really have a lot to lose by giving this seasoned pro a go!

Make sure you vote on this latest poll to your right, but share you views below too...

grim isn't it.... as a aside, Arsen sounds a bit like Arsenal. Mancini a bit like Man City, and Basinas..well sounds like Basinstoke who we will be playing soon if it carry's on like this. I am really gutted. Basinas is better than Mullins Hughes Diop, and the useless Mokoena. so play him Our Best Team available is Jamo/Begovic- Finnan Kaboul Tal Ben And Herman at the back. Boatang behind the forwad Basinas Brown in the middle and Webber on the left and Utaka on the right. with Kanu up top.Freddy as sub

EASY......when we sell the two goalies and boatang and kaboul....glug glug glug

It was great to see someone who could actually pass the ball, unlike Diop. Basinas could and should be used alongside Brown in the middle of a 4-4-2 with Yebda on the right and Belhadj on the left and Prince playing in just behind Utaka or Pick your own. Thats of course if we can keep hold of Belhadj

I think he has to play. The guy can pass to anothe rplayer, let alone pass the ball forward or more than 5 yards. Get him on the pitch for God's sake please.

    thats unanimous then

To be honest Cov didn't give him much time on the ball - he simply stepped out of challenges or made a simple accurate pass and then moved to take the ball in space - we crossed for **** till he came on. Fact is we need a calm and controlling "out ball" and that's bassinas to me

He must play; against Coventry he was responsible for the set-up of 2 goals as well as putting Smith clean through [ he failed again ] and showed that he knows when and where to pass to create the most damage to the opposition. Pompey's shape and balance was transformed, and there is no reason to think he could not do this against Prem. Lge opposition. Finally, when he takes a corner he "flights" the ball which makes it easier to get on the end of [ NB Papa Diop's header ] - rather than driving the ball at pace across the area which most Pompey players do NB Jamie O'Hara. Give him the chance, with Boateng also playing we just need a hard man in front of the back 4 to balance the side. JMA

portsmouth could be much better than what it is if it had a good manager paul hart *****ed up by not letting gekas play (by the way in his first game for hertha he scored) which was i thought a gift of a player for portsmouth if a goal can be scored he will score it. Now not letting basinas play i think its just as stupid he is a great playmaker and defends very well. he can pass the ball long or short he plays simple and good football.

and i know that portsmouth's got avram grant as its manager now
