'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Jacob 'confident' ban will be 'lifted imminently'

Mark Jacob has told The News the he feels that the transfer embargo will be 'lifted imminently' following 'fruitful' talks with the premier league on Tuesday...

'Negotiations' will resume again on Wednesday but Jacob is quoted as saying: 'we have had very fruitful meeting with the Premier League today.

'Talks are resuming tomorrow and the club are confident it will be lifted imminently.'

Another false dawn or could a ray of light suddenly appear?

That said 'if' anyone seriously thinks that we would go out and bring in money signings, let alone 'big money signings' they would be sorely wrong because:

1 - We cannot afford this!
2 - What club in their right mind would do a money transfer deal with us?
3 - Not too many 'top quality' players will want to come to us.
4 - We CANNOT afford to put more debt on top of what we have!
5 - We cannot afford this - oops, I said that one already...

'If' we do get this ban lifted it is 'thought' that loanees and freebies are our best bet for signings, well in fact our ONLY bet, which was always likely to be the case anyway, right?

This would be better than nothing and at least give us a better chance to play on a more even playing field on the pitch! And I suspect, well we have been told, that players are lined up already.

To be honest I will not be raising my hopes too high, as this has happened so many times this season only for them to be dashed, how often have we heard talks about Jacob, or others, being 'confident' about something only for this not to be the case!

Lets just wait and see on this one, and believe anything 'if/when' it happens...

Hmm but can we believe him?
PompeyFcMad
Believe it when we see it. I'm told it is unusual for an appeal to be granted over an HMRC case and the revenue were very disappointed- good! But let's see. I still don't think administration is in anyway likely before 10th feb. What is pretty rubbish is Graham my PFA members dive and cheat Taylor asserting ghat clubs aren't trying to take advantage of our financial distress; what a luring p^ick

jacob has one of them faces u just want to punch ! look at it in that picture.. would be funny if we got the transfer embargo lifted and then spent 50million on players !!!

If Jacob got any where near my finances, I swear I'll do time.

I think IF it does get lifted we should at least acknowledge that any players we might bring in will be Avram's men and should get behind them .... even if we have never heard of them.

Fantastic news. Cant wait for all those new signings!! His pants are on fire. Now we are going to appeal, what a waste of time. You dont win against HMRC, they are rarely wrong especially by 7.5 million you prat!! Just prolonging the agony, becuase you dont have the m! Why dont they just all bugger off, take al faraj and Fahim with you. I dont care if we end up in the fizzy coca cola league now, i am just fed up with all this legal rubbish, you knew what you were getting yourselves into just pay the debts or go home.

This guy was also confident that we would win against the HMRC. 0-1 so far Mr Jacobs. Hardly premier league material are you?

My one ray of hope is that if we get a couple of players that gel well with what's left I honestly believe we have in Grant a manager who can steer us clear of relegation - I've even taken a bet we can!

In debt up to the hilt, being chased by the Tax, Clubs, FA, Prem, Former Players.....and now we want to add to the wage bill and debt ??? FFS why can't we get our house in order first ?

I'm intrigued does anyone know specifically what the VAT amount relates to, I know some people were saying that it was to do with player sales abroad but the amount was too much. It basically equates to £50m so I wonder if we're arguing that VAT isn't due on player sales, maybe we're arguing a technicality, something to do with a sale actually being a termination of a contract rather than a sales. Assuming that is the case we're basically trying to entirely change how HMRC deal with football clubs and I can't believe that no-one has tried it before. Doomed to failure... actually has me chuckling the depths we'll go to to try and get out of something.

Maybe you can understand why Gaydamak didnt want to sell to these guys, when all they want to do is sue and get out of payments that they have taken on. Are owners are leechs.

We would probably get foreigners who may be 3rd choice at bigger clubs on loan. Likes of Pavlechenko at Spuds for example. He 4th choice triker and would surely be preapred to go out on loan in order to get 1st team football. His value is diminishing all the time sitting on the bench. There must be others that Avram has in mind and lets hope they will add strength to the team. As an aside, thanks Sol for now suing us as well for £1.7m for advertising rights or whatever. Surely to god if you are a player being paid by any club they have the right to use your face orin posters etc without having to pay you £30k a week for the privelage. Quite clear then that 'when Sol went up to lift the FA Cup' it was full of gold for him the money grabbing git

I am fatigued by all this nonsense. Jacobs is as big a liar as Storrie, when are they going to realise that we don't buy all this crap. Rather than taking us to a "new level" they are plumbing new depths for us. I am completely fed up with being patronised by these *ankers. Grow up, and go screw someone else. I for one have enough of bent owners and Managers, Venables, Gaydamak, Milan, Redknapp, etc. What a bloody tack record, there is something really bad at our Club that needs cutting out forever, and it's not us.
Mike1954
don't believe a word he says.

Ok, time for a bit of controversy now, and I cannot believe I am saying this but i am looking at the situation, and looking at all the external factors pulling the club appart, and I genuinely think we would be better off dropping down a league now and getting this sorted. The problem is that the amount of revenue the club will make in the champo will be far less than the epl so this is going to put us even deeper in the brown stuff. My only hope is that if we do go down the administration line, which i feel we are accelerating towards, we have it this season, with the 10 point deduction this year, and not next season, with us potentially starting the season in the championship on -10 pts! I just feel like we caring for a wounded animal which needs to be put down by the vet. Please please please can the day come soon where we can move on and talk about football again!
dave.jolley81
dave.jolley81: But isn't this the kind of football we dreamed of talking about when we stayed up at Wigan '06?
Lysimachus
i think what he meant to say was 'Talks are resuming tomorrow and the club are NOT confident it will be lifted imminently.'
