Utaka and Freddy P 'might' work?

'John Utaka and Freddy P up top together 'might' work', not my vote, yours - although these findings from veccccio's poll are thoughts that would like to agree with but just do not know, although to be honest it is blatantly obviously that we NEED to offload Utaka...

Utaka is one of the highest, and if 'reports' are correct, probably the highest earners at the club at the moment - although he DOES NOT, on the whole, do enough to earn this.

I think that the guy has had enough chances, despite the constant argument that he 'has not been used as an out and out attacker enough', which perhaps he has not, but wherever he plays, for me, should not mean he is as ineffective and disinterested as he often is!

Yep, he came on against Coventry recently and made a real difference, but hopes have been raised only to be dashed, before...

Financially we need to get rid of him but we do not seem to have any takers, so if we do not get them then we will have to start utilising him more to justify his salary, yet he REALLY needs to start justifying getting this with on the field actions!

As for a pairing with Freddy P, potentially this could work - if it would in theory is another matter, although Avram Grant does not seem to be very much a fan of the lone striker, at least from the off...

  • What the poll asked - Utaka up front with Piquionne?

  • How you voted - Utaka and Piquionne might work 61%, John Utaka is useless, sell him! 32%, Rather Utaka than Webber 6%, Utaka is the man when match fit! 1%

Before we move on what are your thoughts on what the last poll concluded? You know what to do, thoughts below please guys...

Interesting poll. I cannot believe that Utaka is on a HUGE wage as everyone keeps on saying, and having been left out of the Nigeria ACN squad he really does now have something to proove before the world cup. If there ever was a 4 month period where John Utaka must shine it is now.

How many chances can you give this man. He will stay out his lucrative contract if we pay his wages on time and play and run when he feels like it.

we DO need someone to hold the ball up - FP is always face to goal we need someone with a physical presence who's going to hussle defenders take the 50:5o ball and lay it off... may be webber.... not going to be Smith... Dindane when he's back if he's still here... or flippin loan someone - gotta be better to loan in someone on lower wages, take the Utaka fee and shed the overhead...

Utaka cant finish..simple as that..Nugent cant finish..simple as that..freddy cant finish very often...dindane the same...|Smithy can finish but does'nt get the cnace to very often..what about one of the younger players we do'nt see? we have 4 good keepers, a couple of good defenders and not much quality in midfield, boatang excepted, but some good gritty players like brown. A little while back i was playing with making an imaginary film about our promotion year and cast Mullins as Quashie.for his shooting ability and looks, but i didnt get any further.Sadly i do not really think the current squad is good enough for the PL, but we may be lucky that there are several other poor teams around

Smithy can finish but does'nt get the cnace to very often.....sorry but when was that? and hes played probably double? what utaka has. even smithy gets a proper go upfront, out of his position mind, when utaka has spent his pompey career thrown out on the wing. When utaka arrived he looked amazing up front, then after a couple of games and a couple of goals Harry threw him on the wing, where he lost confidence. Even recently he has looked more threatening 'up front' when ever hes come on, some time in his real position and we could have had a good striker, alas its probably too late. Ild have utaka and Kanu upfront over all of the rest, with kanu being replaced at some point.
