'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Dos Santos/Boateng/James 'talk'

Getting our transfer embargo lifted I something that we are battling against, well we continue to battle again but 'if' we get this lifted it has always been said that Avram Grant has players lined up and Giovani dos Santos has been a 'long-term' name 'linked' with us...

Apparently, in The News of the World - as is all the transfer talk here - the Spurs midfielder/striker will join us on loan next week 'if' this embargo is lifted.

I would not be surprised to see the guy arrive on loan to be honest, his name seems to have been 'linked' too many times and for too long, although 'should' this happen where does this leave us with Jamie O'Hara?

You cannot loan two players from any one premier league club, can you?

The first talk of players going today sees Kevin-Prince Boateng linked with a move to Sunderland?

A £7m price is 'said' to have been put on his head whereas Sunderland want to pay only £5m.

Although are we not going back into this whole we CANNOT sell him anyway due to the Fifa ruling about him being unable to play for a 3rd team in anyone season...

Finally, David James' move to Stoke fell throw on Friday although this deal 'could' be resurrected this week.

Yet again this 'Pompey source' said: 'there are still talks going on to resurrect the deal. We hope a compromise can be reached.

'James seems keen to go, and manager Avram Grant knows he has an able deputy in Asmir Begovic, so it is hoped a compromise over wages can be reached.'

To be honest my stance remains the same with James, I still think he is a fantastic keeper but sometimes needs must and I think we MUST offload him as it will be in everyone's best interest.

Although we cannot do Stoke, or anyone else, too many favours in this, or any other, deal - then again we cannot cut off our nose to spite our face can we...

i think dos santos would be good, very attacking, but very injury prone and almost untried at this level, i do think he would do well and would want him anytime but at the expence of o'hara im not so sure...

It's not a winger we want... Belhadj, Smith, Webber, Piquinoone, Dindane.. they all claim to be wide men rather than out and out forwards .... goget somebody who can score goals.. goals win games.. won games get points..

I hate to say it - we need dwarfie hanging around the goal post waiting to tap them in.....

I hear Stevie Gerrard is unhappy at Liverpool, why doesn't SAF buy him with the £50m he is going to invest in the Club?

Bloody Sunderlnad Again! They always want our players.

Also would rather have O'hara in this transfer window and maybe if we have the money in the summer buy Dos Santos.
PompeyFcMad
prince cant be sold because he has played for 2 clubs this season... plus we cant loan two players from 1 club and also we have a transfer ban.. plus ohara cant play for anyone apart from us or spurs so expect him back.. maybe we could buy dos santos or strike a deal with spurs they owe us money for the crouch defoe deals.. they must..
pompeyhussler
i think dos santos's national position is up front, and he scores regularly for his national team.

Why are we talking about transfers, loans and freebies? We can't do any of it for the foreseeable future, so a completely pointless exercise (Sorry to be so negative)
pentonpompey
becuase it's fun penton... and what else is there to talk about?
pompeycarpet
Well in that case, could we have Arshavin? can we, can we, can we? NO! say's Daddy Bear Scudamore...

Wouldn't suprise me if the Jamo to Stoke deal doesn't get resurrected, what's happened till now is just haggling.

I for one would be really gutted if we lost Boateng or Ohara as they have been two of the better outfield players we have, James on the other hand, I like him, I really like him, he is a fantastic keeper, if we could afford to keep him then I would, but if we cant pay his wages then let him go, Begovich has shown that he is capable of doing a job for us (which is a further shame for Ashdown). Dos Santos I cant say I know much about, but unlike with Hart, I do trust Avrams experience. I hope all of this gets sorted out soon enough, I live about as far away from England as I can, and still I am getting greif about how much of a circus our club is, we are such an embaressment at present!!!!!!!

i'd love to see gio on loan for the rest od the season with you. he is quality and will bang loads more in than dindane. spurs wont sell him till after the world cup as a good tournament for him would seriously raise the new ronaldinho's price tag. also his preffered position is playing on the right of a 4-3-3 attack

We need a classic centre forward who can put himself about a bit and score goals. I know he's an ex-Scummer but what about Beattie from Stoke in exchange for Jamo?
