Top Striker Enquiry 'Andy Johnson'

Andy Johnson will become Harry Redknapps first target this summer. He is expected to cost in the region of 8 million pounds.

Harry has been told he has 10 million to get two strikers.

He can have 8 million to tie up DíAlesandro, Routledge and Koroman.

He can have a further 7 million to spend on defenders.

Harry Redknapp will make an enquiry for Andy some time this summer but I expect this to happen in the next 48 hours. The Crystal Palace chairman is expected to turn down the enquiry. This is however expected and Portsmouth will offer an initial bid in the region of seven million.

Andy Johnson is on standby for this World Cup and although he has just signed a new deal with Crystal Palace, Portsmouth offer him the chance to return that he thought he would get through Palace this year. (They lost 3-0 to Watford)

Make no doubt about it Portsmouth will be going after Andy Johnson, the only thing Iím not sure about is when Portsmouth will make their move.

Your Vital Pompey site will be revealing four more transfer targets in the next week. Keep reading, we donít make it up!

Not after watching him last night! Marlon King was far better and would be a fration of the price. Still would signal some serious intent

Your joking les aren't you? 8 mill for johnson, leaving 2 million fo a.n. other? 8 mill for D'ale, rout and koro? Absolutely no chance. D'ale will be 5 - 6 alone. What we need is a decent defensive coach and a hatful of defenders who can defend. If they are his plans for next year, then i reckon we are in for another roller coaster of a ride.

The 8 million isnít part of the story, it is my opinion about how much he will cost. With that chairmen and a player who has a long contract such as Andy I believe it could be as much as 8 mill. You say only two mill for another but that two mill could buy someone like Trundle or Hesky. The strike force of Johnson, Benjani, Lua Lua, Trundle and Toddy will definitely do the business. You say no chance to tying up DíAlesandro, Routledge and Korroman. A) I didnít say that he has to sign all three with 8 mill. DíAlesandro 5 mill, Routledge 3 mill and I expect Korroman to join on loan for another year. You say these plans worry you fen but 25million is a lot of money!

Les, they worry me because its a team full of forwards. Who the f**k is going to stop us losing every game 8-5 or something similar. I know its opinions les, but how can you honestly think trundle will fit in there? Put him and lua lua together and no one else would even get the ball, let alone a pass.

I cannot find the thread now where I suggested that he was the man, but having said that the money could be better used elsewhere. There will be an awful lot of debate on this issue, I for one would like to shore up the best we have and then go fishing or poaching for a decent acquisition more worthy of the tag and price. If we effectively inform fans and the like that the new stadium has begun I think we can reassure both fans and attract prospective players. The Stadium issue could lead to our ultimate downfall or learn itself to a part of history. Grab it by the horns or the dream will be gone for ever Pompey ?

lol Just my opinion, but i believe we need to spend more than £7M on defenders. We were lucky that linvoy & stef have played above themselves for the last 2 years. Stef, when he came back this season has been terrible. A.O'b is OK. Matty is not a top notch full back, great wing back but his defending needs improvement. Whilst i like all those i've mentioned above, i still think we need some TOP CLASS defenders (not just decent), which we already have, and most of all, a coach who can make them a great unit.

Sorry Les I thought you said pompeygray, Trundle or Johnson. Ironic though that 2 strikers I have mentioned in the last week in despatches have been Johnson and Camara (J because he won't be in the Prem with Palace, and C because Harry has always chased him and did land him eventually for that other Hants team)

Should cost more than £8m. Also see that defoe is on redknapps hit list for the same amount. Think both of these players would cost more than that. But a bargain if you can haggle to that value. Should spend the money on revamping your stadium

Spurs have got a number of old crock defenders walking out (of contract) feel free to take any of those or Anthony Gardener for a couple of mill
