Grant insists Kaboul was 'injured'

Grant insists Kaboul was 'injured'

When I arrived into The Ricoh last night to see the teams and there was no sign of Younes Kaboul my instant reaction was 'well that is him gone for sure then...'

Although Avram Grant has 'insisted' that Younes' absence was nothing more than 'injury' and he expects him to 'be available' for the weekend: 'he couldn't play, he was injured.

'Younes was injured, he tried and wanted to play, but for him to play two games in four days is not good.

'But I think he will be available for Saturday.'

Hmmm, maybe, maybe not - I guess time will tell?

I would VERY much hope that we do keep Younes - and there were 'rumours' of a deal with Sunderland involving cash and Anton Ferdinand, which has been 'played down' - but would still, in all honesty, be surprised if he was still here in February, although I of course hope he is...

This brings us onto the topic of a recent poll, with the findings from Chix's poll of the opinion that if we got a £14m offer - which is 'said' to be the amount we have asked for - we should take it.

  • What the poll asked - Younes Kaboul: £14m - Take it ?

  • How you voted - Yes 74%, No 26%

I think it is a 'no brainer' that we would have to accept anything beyond £10m, with or without 'problems' like we have, right?

Before we move on what are your thoughts on what the last poll concluded? You know what to do, thoughts below please guys...

Interesting Finnan wasn't in, although he is supposedly injured as well. Nothing to do with him gobbing off the other day about wanting to leave then?? Be interesting on Saturday who Kaboul is playing for us or Man City, as if anybody it will be them I reckon who will get any thing close to what we are reported to be asking for. I bet we will deal at about £11m tho.

would start borre on saturday u gotta give the lad a few games he was the best player on the pitch and has much more going forward than finnan.

Vanden Borre is good going forward, definately don't agree he was the best player on the pitch last night. I lost count of the number of passes he gave away. I do agree though given a few games in the side will help his confidence and he could be a great player, just think he'd be better right midfield than right back, he's another belhadj.

Yep Rug, agree with you. When I heard Moko was in for YK, I thought we had it & YK was sold. Moko the surprise hero, well a pleasant surprise. YK may still go, rather he did himself justice & went to a biggish club, not sure what the attarction is at Sunderland? Vander Borre did well last nite, much better that the gobby, injury prone Finnan.

I heard through a mate that his mate's son lives in the same apartment block in Southampton as YK and a few of Scum's french stars, and that the latest is that YK has already had a medical at City. Don't know how true that is though.

Sky said Sunderland confirmed Pompey rejected the cash plus Ferdinand deal. I thought VDB was our best player last night; as for passes that went astray, try Ax, Herman, Boobup Diop and particularly Brown, all worse than VDB

In fact apart from one dreadfull shot that went sideways Bassinas was probably the best passer of the ball; still some quality in those knackered legs. I never thought i'd be saying this but I think Utaka needs to be played against Sunderland; he maybe playing for a transfer but if we get something out of him for our £300k per month then great !

    Another Fratton disappointment

That 2nd half on Saturday against Notts County was woeful - absolutely awful wasn't it. The first 15-minutes or so of it was like a pre-season friendly to pre-season!

Match highlights - Pompey 1-2 Notts County

What a disappointment that was! The 1st half wasn't bad, in fact large chunks of it were good but the 2nd half was just woeful with a soft centred Pompey beaten 2-1 by Notts County.
