'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Finnan 'wants away?'

The News of the World 'claims' that Steve Finnan has 'told his advisors' that he wants them to look for a new club as he wants out of the 'mess' that is Pompey.

With his 'frustrations' growing with the way things are going on and off the field he 'wants away' to get his career 'back on track' with a 'source' saying: 'Steve is deeply frustrated by the mess Portsmouth are in and wants away. He knows the club is going nowhere and he is keen to get his career back on track.'

He is 'said' to want this move to get 'regular 1st team football,' which, correct me if I am wrong he IS getting here when he is fit, right? As well as 'regular payments,' which granted he might not always be getting...

QPR are 'said' to be interested.

Perhaps we now know who the canary singing the other day way was? Ok, just because the papers say it id does not make it true, but 'if' it is sod Finnan, if he wants out lets get him out the door!

Also in The NOTW they 'claim' that Citeh are 'closing in on a deal' for Younes Kaboul - although they say they will only pay £7m, not quite the £14m we put on his head is it so lets just hope this is complete rubbish...

Finnan fancies droping right down rather than fight in the Prem? Doesn't add up at all
paultsmouth
One bonus of Coyle going to Bolton, maybe 2 clubs would be interested in signing him?
paultsmouth
let him take nugent first
pompeyhussler
Finnan.. Nugent...Utaka.. Bassinas.. Mokoena... Five for the price of One I reckon... Rochdale are apparently interested
Chix
Probs stupid paper talk again! He's only been here for Half a season and not played much cos of injury, but i dont think he will go. But if he did i dont think it would be a top half club.
pompeyfcmad
I meant Nugent Hussler, forgot to point it out though!
paultsmouth
this story wouldn't surprise me - he hasn't spent that long at the club, hasn't played many games, so his general experiance so far can't have been great...
pompeycarpet
Bye then. Not prem quality, not even for our current level. Here on a 1 season contract, take the cash & no heart contract. Glad to get rid.
storagematt
it says he wants first team football in that artical hes playing firstteam football with us and he played when we beat liverpool... we are staying up said we are staying up.
pompeyhussler
whatever as long as we can replace him he can sod off, its not like it'll be too hard to find a replacement anyway, grant just has to ask his old friend pini zahavi lol
pompeym@
As long as the transfer embargo gets lifted, so that we can replace him, then fine, he can go - especially if we get a bit of cash for him. Can we rely on Hart to buy the under-achievers that he brought in?
tracyc
Wow. I really thought Finnan was working out okay. Sure, a little moody looking and possibly made of balsa wood but gives the team a bit of experience and a level head at the back with the nutters. Looks like he wants a nice easy retirement and maybe a spot of punditry to break up the monotony of endless rounds of golf. He leaves with my sincere blessing of "go fu....."

"yourself"

Finnan, crikey guv'nor you can talk.......He really hasn't impressed me.....Ball watches, doesn't close down, wayward passing.....call that experience, well we can do without thankyou. If we can get more than £1.50 for him, get rid.....no rotten apples required, but don't expect too much finnan as nobody else was really after you. Bye Bye
BarneyArmy
finnans crap
Super Bock 1898
Superbock I am with you on this, he is crap, he can't mark and he ball watches, all the time. I think he is so injury prone that he is afraid to tackle or make contact with the ball. He'll be better off at Utd. (Torquay that is)
Mike1954
he clearly isnt crap, that's just numpty talk, we dont tend to lose when he plays but there is the rub, when he plays! Sick note the second. Wont be much missed unless Younes departs, then without serious reinforcement we are in the crap
russellm
hes a solid defender and think hes done ok would keep him unless a bid comes in and hes on above 20k which i think he is 500k and hes yours. could put wilson right back he would do a better job !! kaboul and benhaim in the middle.
pompeyhussler
Nonsense to say he's crap! We look much better when he's in the side. We are at least in some ways a little more organised when he's around.
pentonpompey
he is crap, put it this way i would rather have kept noé pamarot or one of the other 'rejects' that put their soul into to the club than this day dreaming sulky hasbeen. he does ball watch, hes always half a yard off play and has just been lucky that not many opposing managers have seen this and chucked a quick skillfull winger on as he would be shown up for what he is. i noticed it in a game ironically we won, if the hopeless benitiz had chucked benayoun on earlier we possibly would have struggled to have kept that 3pts as he looked like he was going to tear finnan apart
Super Bock 1898
Let them all go if they want. What's the use in pretending we are not going to be in this division next season anyway. I have already given up, and it seems the vast majority of the players have too...
pompeygray
Good pompey fan you are.. Giving up. Shame on you. Let Finnan go if he wants, he's crap anyway. Our medical team would miss him like crazy.
.Andrew.
