Fulham v Pompey called off!

Fulham v Pompey called off!

It has been confirmed that the game against Fulham, scheduled for 3pm tomorrow, has been called off due to the weather conditions sweeping the country at the moment.

This is something that I have been expecting all week to be honest, some may see this as a good thing but with Fulham missing some key players and us still having some of ours with the club at this point maybe we have lost more by this postponement?

Fulham has issued a statement, see below...

PLAY UP POMPEY!

Pompey's Premier League clash at Fulham on Saturday has been postponed.

The following statement has been released by Fulham:

"The club can confirm that Saturday's Barclays Premier League fixture against Portsmouth at the Cottage has been postponed due to the adverse weather conditions which are not expected to improve over the next 24 hours.

"The safety of supporters is of paramount importance to the club and following an inspection of the areas surrounding Craven Cottage on Friday morning, it was deemed unsafe for fans to travel.

"The club can confirm that all tickets for Saturday's game will be valid for the re-arranged fixture date which will be announced in due course."

We'll never see O'hara play again for us now.

Though this was always going to be a tough match, when not many outside Pompey would give a prayer, it may have been a good time to play them. They played midweek, have a few injuries & may be the conditions would have evened things out. Then again, we could have just got beat as expected.

Pompey are apparently attempting to have all games during the ACON postponed!!

Yeah good in a way as the ACON will be over by the time we have the fixture rescheduled and also hopefully we might have been able to bring in some new players if the embargo is lifted.

eastneydave, didn't you know that all the bad weather is part of a conspiracy by the Portsmouth owners to avoid playing matches?? It's all in the Sun/Telegraph/mirror/express/guardians 'exclusive' expose on the 'evil portsmouth football club'

Have to say this seems crap to me as I live in Hammersmith (hence by most imaginative name) which is about 20 mins walk from Craven Cottage and there is virtually no snow left on pavements etc as they've been gritting like mad. Looks like FFC did bugger all to get the place ready as west London is NOT in the grip of an evil freeze - nowhere near it.

england, it seems, is now a nation full of ********. a little bit of snow, which everyone wished for xmas, came, and now were told we cant even look afterselves enough to walk to a frickin football match. we (the health and safety conscious country) are pathetic! this match could go ahead. those supporters that cant make the game ... tough. watch it on tv like the rest of us that cant! unlike a lot of the people in this world i cant wait to emigrate AWAY from this hole of a country! rant over =)

It is a bit disappointing, but no suprise to me, having gone into an empty office every day this week. We can't cope with this weather in this country, but we don't seem to try all that hard. Mind you, I really hate it, and certainly didn't wish for it at Christmas or any other time. If I was to emigrate away it would be to somewhere hot and sunny with no need for gritter lorries!

Bunch of woofty scaredy pants. I'm in London and it's fine. If the game was at Fratton we would have at least waited until everyone was there before calling it off

Match highlights - Hartlepool 0-2 Pompey

The slim chances of a top 3 finish ended, despite a win at Hartlepool. Wins for Accrington, Oxford and Bristol Rovers meant Pompey cannot finish higher than our current 5th place.
