Everything must go - Sunday 'reports'

Everything must go - Sunday 'reports'

Most 'reports' in the Sunday papers, well The News of the World to be precise - which runs most of them - are full of further doom and gloom for Pompey...

Apparently as 'the club lurches from crisis into deeper crisis' we will 'listen to offers' for ANY of our players as we need to find 'up to £30m inside the next four weeks.'

So a further 'fire sale' is needed to raise funds - as most of us expect anyway, right?

Although we WILL NOT raise much selling our current players will we, lets be honest! What, £10m-£15m at best I would think...

One of the players that I would think is 'destined' to leave is David James, it seems pretty clear that senior figures - even if Avram Grant 'might' not want this - want/need the England keeper out due to his high wages as much as anything.

In spite of Harry Redknapp saying, and just a day or so back, that he would not be signing the keeper as he would ONLY be his no.2 at Spurs The NOTW 'claims' that he will this week join Spurs for a 'nominal fee.'

What Redknapp says, and what happens, are not always one in the same - although I would still be somewhat surprised to see James pitch up at White Hart Lane to be honest as although I think that he is still a very good keeper I also think that Heurelho Gomes is starting to look a decent keeper too, so what is the point?

That said it seems James wants out, so it is time for him to get out I think - and he seems to have made it clear this is what he wants, so I thank him for what he has done for us, but I ALSO think he needs to thank us too as we did resurrect his career, so he, and others, might do well to remember this!

Younes Kaboul and Kevin-Prince Boateng seem our most 'saleable assets' and are both being heavily 'linked' with moves away - although both playing in the cup game with Coventry seems strange as that now cup-ties the pair...

I would be surprised if Kaboul stays, but you never know - Boateng, according to Fifa rulings HAS to stay with us anyway!

Jamie Ashdown is 'said' to have told a fan, who then told The Quay, that 'he is off' - again, if that is the case so be it. I thank him for his efforts over the years but one less wage to pay, for someone who will not play that often, is not a bad thing really is it?

peter storries on the bbc pompey page, a link to an interview and he says they are after further investment, at the mo they are getting loans because they have to and he expects a mix of investment coming in and player sales during january. I hope there are some good frees about who dont mind whether they are being paid on time, as we can only field 5 loans in a match, although perhaps its time subotic and koroman stepped up.....

one less wage to pay, I thought none of them are currently being paid. Whatever the gloom and doom merchants have to say, the bottom line is we are going down. Not even Superman can prevent that or a late cash cow can save us from the inevitable drop. So let's get over it, miracles are not about to occur this time around...

I agree pg, if we go down let's go with pride. Sell the assets, pay off the debts and let the youngsters have a go.

As long as they don't 'sell' the ground from under us. Remember what happened to Brighton!!!!

There was an interview with PS on The Quay, it was all a lot of ifs buts and maybe's, and 'as far as I know' (I don't think he's very much in the loop any more) but he did say he 'expects' one or two players to have to be sold. Earlier Avram Grant had said that he knew nothing of this, as nobody had spoken to him. Only thing I can think of to do is to buy a euromillions ticket.

Tried that Tracy. Won 90 quid a couple of weeks ago and thought I would send it in to buy one of the players a nice new shiny pair of boots.
