Winding up order - Official PFC Statement

Winding up order - Official PFC Statement

The club have just issued a statement expressing their shock at the issue of a winding up order by HMRC.

It reads - 'Portsmouth Football Club has not been formally served with a winding up petition and is shocked and surprised this action has been taken in respect of VAT, PAYE and National Insurance Contributions which either have been, or are about to be paid, or are disputed.

The club is disputing the VAT amount outstanding and has formally notified HMRC of this. We expect HMRC to withdraw their demands forthwith.

Otherwise we anticipate a hearing being held in early January 2010 during which we will request that the High Court order HMRC to withdraw their demands.

Since the takeover by Ali Al Faraj in October 2009, extreme efforts have been made to reach payment arrangements with HMRC to allow the owner time to deal with inherited debt.

To date the new owner has injected a total of £9.7m of new funds to HMRC - £5.7m paid and security to the value of £4M.

In such a tough economic environment the club finds it hard to understand this action by HMRC.

It is well known that the business has been in a difficult position following former owners` decisions and the current owner is committed to resolving this and moving forward.'

Certainly eye opening stuff with expressions such as 'have been, or are about to be paid, or are disputed' and 'new owner has injected a total of £9.7m of new funds to HMRC'

Where is the truth? HMRC rarely get it wrong certainly not ot the extent of issuing winding up orders.

Rushed this out to give you all the information before rushing off to game.

Hang on a minute here, didn't Ali Al also borrow £15m to pay outstanding bills. I don't like these new owners, however, Sacha and his cronies are pretty much responsible for this sad state of affairs. Why did PS allow the club to be sold to owners who are clearly out of the depth in business matters and are also way short of the money to resolve these issues. It's just another example of his total ineptitude as a Chief Executive. I hope the ******** gets put in prison, that would wipe the smile off his silly bloody face. I have forked out a fortune over 50 years supporting this club, my emotional bank balance has also run out this season. There are a lot of people like me suffering because of their complete negligence. It's a bloody disgrace.

What I don't understand is why doc F and then Ali F wanted to buy the club when the Due Diligence must have revealed the state of things. If they can't pay off the debts how are they going to invest in the infrastructure as promised.

Do you know Blue? I thought it was just me who was thinking that; unless they hoped they could get their grubby mitts onto the land owned by Sasha...That has to be it, it's all I can see that's worth anything. But lets be fair! any books that take months to go through, must be a bloody awful, tangled, dodgy insert your own adjective mess...And still you buy the club!...WHY??? If ever they write a book or do a film about this shower of excrement it will have to be filed under "fantasy" I was going to say fiction...But even that has to be believable!!

How worse can this sorry state of affairs get? I probably know the answer to that question - but just can't believe that this great football club can just be left to rot. Crazy transfer fees and over the top wages for players and officials have come back to haunt us BIG time. Will someone please tell us EXACTLY what is going on

Match highlights - Hartlepool 0-2 Pompey

The slim chances of a top 3 finish ended, despite a win at Hartlepool. Wins for Accrington, Oxford and Bristol Rovers meant Pompey cannot finish higher than our current 5th place.
