Pompey fans in court

Pompey fans in court

A brief update on the Sunderland story. Two of the three fans that we have been in contact with, have appeared in court in Sunderland today.

One pleaded guilty 'to get it over and done with' but got a conditional discharge and no Football Banning Order.

The case for the other is due to be reheard on 21st Jan but he doesn't have to attend. His bail conditions have been lifted meaning he can attend games over Christmas. The fact that the court has viewed the case so favourably today is very encouraging.

A fourth fan has now been in contact and we will help him in any way we can.

I will bring you more details as soon as I have them.

Are these the ones who stormed close to the pitch and threw a plastic stool on to the pitch?

Gaz, the plastic stool was actually booted onto the pitch as Younes tried to get back on! I've seen the footage at work, and it was quite telling how one copper heavy handedly pushed aside one of the blue jacketed stewards as he was dealing with a Pompey fan who'd been on the ground struggling. Looked like he was telling the steward to 'pack it in' or the like.

No doubt the stewards & the police have to justify their presence. Good luck to those involved & hope proper justice prevails.

Done Deal - Smith in permanently from Swindon

The interest Pompey retained in Smith, with him 'in our sights' has resulted in him returning to the Blues on a permanent basis after signing for an 'undisclosed fee' from Swindon.

Cushioning the blow

Much, that needed saying, about Webster's exit for Ipswich and the arrival of Clarke in return (and cash) has been said hasn't it? Doyle's been spot on with what he said.

Swindon striker in 'Pompey's sights'

Michel Smith, who was of course on loan last season, could return? He's still in 'Pompey's sights' by all accounts after Swindon informed him he's 'surplus to requirements' now.
