Come on, where's the consistency?
Before I even begin I want to make it PERFECTLY CLEAR that I do not agree with ANY of the stupid rules that are in place, but seeing as they are then they MUST be followed with the same ruling for all, right?
Following his goal against Liverpool at the weekend Freddy P was shown a yellow card following his, but WHY?
He did not take off his shirt, he did not go into the crowd, all his seemed to do was go mighty close to the advertising hoardings towards the corner of the North Lower Stand, yet this earned him a yellow card!
Fast forward to Sunday evening, West Ham score a penalty and the scorer of this Alessandro Diamanti climbs onto the advertising hoardings in front of his fans, yet he gets NO yellow card!
Come on Mike Dean play the game son...
You might think, ah well never mind, but think about it this way.
A suspension for Freddy P later as a result of this booking, or a lack of one for Diamanti when he should be suspended, later in the season 'might' make so much difference to the outcome of the season?
You never know...I just hope that this does not become a factor!
Once again, I do not see WHY there is a problem with players celebrating with the fans - within reason - as football IS a passionate game, nor do I see why taking your shirt off is a problem, but if you are going to book some for these kinds of actions then why are they not ALL being booked for this?
As eastneydave said to me when I text him as it happened, 'it is called inconsistency and it rules football'...

Beggars belief. I guess this is something that bloody FIFA dream't up after a late night on the back of a fag packet. Seems it's not only inconsistent, but a deliberate dumbing down on any passion. Just hope it doesn't cost us.

There's always gonna be inconsistency until video replays are introduced. It won't slow the game down as by the time they've finished arguing a decision it could be quickly resolved. The only reason it hasn't been introduced is because it would highlight all the mistakes referees make every game up and down the country. I just don't understand why you can't celebrate goals anymore, crazy!

what was with the retaking of chelseas pens as well. if he was stopping it being ruled as a goal because of west ham players being in the box when fat frank took the pen then the third one should be disallowed as well because there were at least 3 on his third attempt. seriously, common sense wasnt used. 1st pen should have counted like a "play on/advantage" situation would in open play. what a c... end!

Its one thing to have these stupid rules, as long as everyone knows what the rules are. But when they're not applied consistently it is a total farce. Not only do I not understand the shirt off thing - but celebrating with your own fans? Opposition fans, yes, that's inflammatory, but your own? I think they make the rules up when they're tiddly, sat with their prawn sandwiches in the hospitality suite when the match has already restarted.

he had a mare anyway lampards penalty taken 3 times and the majority of encroaching players were west hams.

how can you forget about it russ? this MIGHT come back to haunt us! imagine if Freddy P is now suspended from a game he should not have, and that makes a major difference or diamanti now plays in a game that he SHOULD have been suspneded in and he does something that makes a difference?
