Still at the foot

Still at the foot

When we played Chelski on Wednesday, whilst most might have expected a defeat the majority of us were left gutted by this in the end - today we were ALL praying for a Chelski win, and they let us down...

They were held to a 1-1 win at Upton Park by West Ham, who I must admit played really well to be fair and were hard done by for the penalty that earned Chelski a point, which they arguably did not deserve! Following this we remain rooted to the foot of the table, for now and WILL be bottom at Christmas.

'If' we can get a win over West Ham on Boxing Day, and 'if' other results go for us then we 'could' be very, very much looking at a much brighter end to 2009, and 'might' even move out of the bottom 3 before we face Arsenal, who we will look to end the year against on a mighty high, hopefully...

Alas, lets not get too ahead of ourselves, and lets ALSO not get too caught up with the fact that we stay bottom, lets continue to enjoy our win over Liverpool for the time being and look ahead to West Ham first and foremost, phase one of my '4-6pts master plan' from the Liverpool and West Ham games is complete.

Remember, the season ends in May, how it looks at Christmas could mean nothing - although, and lets be honest, it is probably looking a lot better now than many would have expect it to, right?

Bring on The Hammers!

Ive been wondering, we maybe be bottom at Xmas and ppl say 'that the team go down' sept west brom ofcourse. But are we in a better postion than the teams usual bottom at Xmas? Only one point behind West Ham and we are playing them next, so it could be worst.

Doesn't feel as bad to be bottom at xmas as I thought it was going to feel.

Yeah....I was listening to the Chelski/WHam match this afternoon....cheering on Chelski....lol. Still, as has been said..it could be a lot worse. Just gotta make sure we don't lose to W/Ham. If we need encouragement, look how Wolves have shot up the table with two wins....it's tight and we've got to keep it that way.

a 1-1 win at upton park?! it might feel like a win for the hammers, but for us, chelski, and pretty much everyone in the league other than man u and arsenal, it's a bad result.

We can't rely on other people to get us out of this mess, we've got to win our games first and then "what will be will be"! Chelsea couldn't do it, but I still think we can. PUP

But we have started winning and we're still bottom, and I'm finding it very very frustrating. I'm not so concernced about the 'bottom at Xmas' stat becuase its a bit meaningless really, and West Brom proved it can be done - and there's loads of season to go. And yes I know if we can hang on in there, we'll be OK, but we must beat West Ham! But we've been bottom all season, and we're better than that, its time WE moved up the table as well.

Forget the scouse game Rug mate, it's gone. Next up the Hammers which I think is a " must not lose game"; but a win would be brilliant. winning home games and draws away will see us safe I'm sure, particularly if as usual some one drops into the melée towards the end of season.

I still cannot see us climbing off the bottom 3 before New Year. But the good thing is that we are very much behind them. A good run of 2/3 wins and everybody will say we are safe. I just hope we win against West Ham; that would give us some breath!

Smith staying at Northampton

Personally I wouldn't have thought Cook would have brought Smith back but even if the Pompey manager wanted this he couldn't under the terms of his Northampton loan.

Almost there...stay on target

The win over Newport saw Pompey react well to the defeat to Stevenage with most results going in the Blues' favour too, meaning we've effectively got a seven point buffer on Boro.
