Redknapps Plan

Redknapps Plan

Having masterminded a superb escape from relegation, Redknapp wants to try and ensure that next season sees the club challenge higher up in the Premiership.

Redknapp said 'I'll be going to France and possibly Italy next week to look at the last few games there and see who is around and available,' Redknapp admitted.

'I'm a bit behind some of other English club managers in drawing up plans, because when you are not sure what division you are going to be in it is difficult to get sign players.

'But we need a squad full of players who can just step in and do a job.

'Most clubs would be happy to have somebody like Alexandre Gaydamak come in and have Milan (Mandaric) stay on as chairman. That's good news.

with the right investment we have got to look at mid-table first and foremost, and any higher ie; europe placing a bonus

Yes agree mid table should be our likely target and build from there. I suppose Birmingham aimed for that too at the beginning of 2005/06, so nothing is guaranteed in the football world.

Come on 5 out and 7 in more likely. Will we run with what we've got....I think not, we must strengthen in all departments.

Cookie pleased with Bournemouth showing

You cannot always gage too much from pre-season can you. Although the game with Bournemouth tends to again show Pompey have goals in us this season...but we'll concede them too?

Pompey and Bournemouth play out 3-3 draw

Those who turned up in the Fratton sunshine for Alan McLoughlin's benefit match with Bournemouth would view it as an afternoon well spent with it value for money.
