'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Power is exactly what he will bring, right?

Papa Bouba Diop has not always been my, or many others' for that matter, favourite player - although I totally agree with his sentiment that he can become a 'new signing' for us following his return from injury...

He made his return from injury as a sub against Sunderland at the weekend and feels he is ready to start against Chelski tomorrow, and you know what? I say start the big man!

Although for such a big man he has been known to go down far too easily, and seems a little soft, but all in all - like he told The News - if he plays like he can then he 'can bring some power to the team,' which I think we need.

At times teams have gone through our midfield a little too easily as there is not a great amount of 'power' in it is there?

He can offer this, so 'if' he is truly up to the task - and it seems as though Avram Grant is keen on him as he did arrange a friendly last week, mainly for his benefit, and had no bones about putting him into the squad right away - then why not throw him in at Stamford Bridge tomorrow night...

I love Richard Hughes and all, but we need more power against Chelski, and Hughesie - for me - will not offer us enough of this, there will be no ability to drive forward at all, with his actually footballing ability very limited, that is not to say that Diop is a 'superstar' by any means, I just feel he will 'bring more to the table', so long as he is fit enough?

One good bit of news, possibly, coming through is the news that Didier Drogba is 'doubtful' for this game - so, fingers crossed one real danger man can be eliminated at least!

Papa Bouba Diop .. He'll score one day ya know !
Chix
Yes Chix, when they expand the goal mouth by 8 foot and heighten it by 18 foot. Also, if they put it on wheels and attach a homing device to the ball, we will have it licked. Of course, that goes for all our players - not just Papa - unfortunately!

PS: To answer the question: Yes, bring him back. Papa was coming good when he got his injury and I would prefer him to Hughes, Mullins et al.

diop vs hughes/mullins/mokoena - is that a seriosu question? there's only going to ever be one winner!

One of Diops problems is that when he featured regulary, "HR" had him playing out of position on the right, he has never settled coupled with his injuries.

Not keen on Diop myself. I think people have short memories regarding the wardrobe. Sure he's big but doesn't punch his weight in my opinion. Let's hope I'm proved wrong eh....and he storms the midfield ....runs through on goal and unleashes an Exocet missile of a shot that tears the posts out of the ground.... Then I woke up....Play Up Diop...PUP....

id say play him - in the grand sheme of things it probably wont make much difference - same for McCarthy making 10 changes last night v ManYoo. Papa has a point to prove so why not start in just about the most difficult game of the season! PUP!!
