'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Kaboul's bittersweet moment

I think that we ALL know by now that Younes Kaboul firstly saved us from another defeat with his injury time equaliser against Sunderland at the weekend, but then got sent off for his goal celebration - and for that he is sorry...

Younes has told pfcTV that he got 'caught up' in the emotion of scoring: 'I'm not happy because I did a silly thing in taking my shirt off. I forgot about the rule. I'm very sorry about that.

'But when you score in the last minute it's emotional, especially with where we are in the table.'

Football is MEANT to be a game of emotions but those running the game seem to be doing more and more to drain this emotion from it, whilst looking to bleed us dry of every penny they can for the 'privilege' of watching the beautiful game.

Yep, it is a stupid rule, but it is the rule all the same - sadly!

As mentioned in the forum I still think that until we see a MAJOR event, such as the world cup final, troubled in such a way - a player shown a 2nd yellow for a celebration - or a 'dodgy goal' winning a tournament the powers that be will not alter anything, quite why they brought in this booking for taking off a shirt rule is beyond me, but hey ho...

This red card means that he misses out trip to Chelski on Wednesday as a result.

Is this a good or bad thing though? I guess a 'good thing' really, right?

Put it this way, whilst we SHOULD NOT go to Stamford Bridge having already accepted defeat, realistically if we come away with anything we would have done bloody well!

So, with Liverpool coming to Fratton at the weekend this IS a game that we will view with more expectation that we can actually beat the bin dippers, right? They are there for the taking, so having Younes back for that is 'arguably' more important...

The worry I have is that without Younes the defence might get pulled apart on Wednesday, even more so, so the last thing we need is a mauling!

Chelski look suspect defensively, the problem we have is coming forward they look mighty fine, and the frailties at the back are not something that you would think our attack is able to exploit is it?

I guess time will tell...

My mate has given me his son's season ticket at the Bridge to see the Chelsea game - i have to impersonate an eight year old. Which I can do, behaviourally but not visually.

On the Janice point .. He was daft not to realise he'd get sent off, but in the heat of the moment you could hardly blame him.. We will not miss him on Wednesday though.. We've got Tal Ben-Haim to cover don't forget.. he can easily handle Drogba and Anelka

Yeah....they were the days. When I could rip my shirt off and have women drooling. If I did it now they'd be dribbling.... Would get more than a red card too I bet, especially if it was in the high street.

The only positive thing is that since Ben Haim will be replacing him at the back, Tal may have a decent game, playing against his old club; the club that showed him an exit door. Perhaps!

As usual Rug, your right on the money, The Chelsea game is going to be very tough, There attack is full on and I dont know wether our defence is going to be able to cope with it over the full 90, the question is have we got the ability to get up the other end and slot goals? Im not so sure! As for the liverpool game, bring em on, they are in all sorts of disaray at the moment, this is the perfect opportunity for us to give them a little dust up, At this stage I would take a point,,,,gladly, but I think we should aim higher, really take the fight to them, Plenty of noise HUH!!!! He is a professional footballer and knows the rules, his act could cost us dear.

Right 007. We had a thread the other week about our brainless players taking their shirts off. Celebrate by all means, but keep within the rules.
