Should we have signed Viduka?
'Not signing Mark Viduka was the right thing for Pompey to have done', not my vote, yours - although these findings from pompeyrug's poll are thoughts that I agree with...
Yep, we are struggling to score goals, and yep perhaps the 'big man' would have tucked away some of the chances that we missed, which 'could' have made all the difference but would he have even been fit enough, or injury free, to have played the games we would have needed him too?
I maintain my thoughts that he would not have been 'match fit' for several months after his lack of pre-season, and also feel that his 'injury problems' made him too much of a liability and a risk, financially - unless it was a pay as you play deal, which he would not have agreed to - to take on.
His 'apparent' demands of £30,000-£40,000 per week and 2-year contract were both things that I also feel made it right for us to have said no, not that we would seriously have paid that anyway, would we...
So, all in all, yep we need goals and perhaps he 'might' have got us some, but for me we were right not to sign him - if we actually ever had any serious intention to do so anyway?

Far more important issues than scoring goals to get us the points we need to move us up the table and away from the relegation zone and in turn make us a more attractive proposition to the prospective buyers we need to keep our club afloat .. yeah right ;)

Although it's always tempting to look back, and think what if, it should be resisted. Viduka was in my opinion, living on borrowed time with the Bar-codes, and hardly tucking them away. Goals I mean, not pies. And such was his state of fitness, that I do wonder if he'd have even made the bench. Didn't like his mercenary attitude either. Glad we didn't take him.

Interesting vote though .. Although I put the poll forward I wasn't suggesting we should have signed him but if we are in the frame for a forward in January (with the pots of money we haven't got) I really can't see who we are going to atract

Don't want him - I think he would destroy any unity we may have; never liked his mercenary attitude, and he's never looked that fit (say I !). Better out there for the money he would want, even Gekas would be better (although we never got to see much of him). NO TO VIDUKA
