'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Confidence well and truly misplaced

'Pompey would beat Villa to march into the league cup semi final', not my vote, yours - although these findings from pompeyrug's poll are thoughts that I did agree with, or at least hope for, to be honest...

¾ of us thought that we would beat Villa - so, we were VERY confident that we would do this, in hindsight very, very much too confident.

I always went into this game hoping that we would win, and in all honesty thought we 'might', but I also have to be honest in saying that I was not 'expecting' to win as I knew that if 'the real' Villa turned up they would turn us over, as they did.

Ah well, we concentrate on the league now...

  • What the poll asked - Pompey v Villa - league cup

  • How you voted - Pompey win 76%, Villa win 24%

Before we move on what are your thoughts on what the last poll concluded? You know what to do, thoughts below please guys...

Too many of us have been letting our hearts rule our heads, particularly in the Polls - This season is going to be one big wake up call ! Lets hope the owners and management have a wake up call too !

A lot of the players needed a wake up call in the first half (and beyond) last night.. Very poor showing with very few of them coming out of it with any credit.. Ah well at least it wasn't a league match !

you know the guy that i think came away from this game with most credit?
as much as i can knock him at times, i would say kanu! to be fair the guy was actually working quite hard and running, even at 3-1 down he was eager to get on with things, when it went 3-2 he was the one rushing to get going again and EVEN at 4-2 he went 'running' over toward the north stand to get the ball back.
problem is it will probably take him the rest of the month to recover...

Don't suppose I need to say I was one of the negative votes then? HaHa ;-) I seriously need to get down the bookies, that would definitely change our fortunes!

The patience of the fans is beginning to wear thin judging fron the reaction of fans I spoke to after the game. No win on Saturday and gates will slimp alarmingly methinks.
    eastneydave
Oh no - not slimping gates !
    BarneyArmy
slumping gates I can handle - but never slimping ones!
    pompeycarpet
I'll bring my Cordless Drills and drivers, that will have them sorted! Wouldn't mind Cheryl Cole slimping over me, but not the gates!

I went for the defeat, got to be realistic. More important we win on Saturday! Slimping as that!!!
