Pompey Face Competition to Sign...

Pompey face competition for D'Alesandro!

D'Alessandro said: 'I've been playing in Europe for three-and-a-half years, and my time at Pompey has been the best.

'I'm really happy. I want to stay. I like the club both on and off the pitch. I get on really well with the players.

'I don't know what's going to happen. There are other clubs interested, but my choice is to stay here.

'Fundamental to me wanting to stay here is Harry Redknapp. He wants me, and I want to play for him. He was the main reason I came here.

'I'd like Portsmouth to be a side not fighting near the bottom of the Premier League, but in the top half of the table, aiming for a place in Europe.'

In an exclusive interview in The News today, D'Alessandro speaks of his friendship with Maradona and his life before professional football in Buenos Aires – as a plumber.

I think one of the reasons we found ourselves in the mire previously because the amount of procrastination in buying players, admittedly we had limited funds but ended up with three crap when one quality would have been better. Harry is right, we should to build a team around this brick of a player and we dont sign him then woe betide the future..

Well said St Peter you deserve a halo. I shall present it to you on Cup Final night at North Parramatta. We should all learn a lesson, remember the Michael Carrick affair. Get him signed ASAP, then as you said we can build around him, including that big new stadium.
