'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Is there a role for Bilic?

So, Pompey have confirmed Avram Grant as our next manager - with him taking over in an official managers role when his work permit is 'upgraded'.

This appointment was ALWAYS likely to be the case although today Slaven Bilic, at least his representative Rudi Vata, was not ruling out Pompey - this talk seemed to come far too late, or did it?

The Croatia manager was 'linked' with Pompey over the summer but was 'committed' to Croatia, although the words coming from his 'representative' were Bilic 'wouldn't be put off by Portsmouth's position' even though 'no concrete news on Portsmouth' had come through.

With Grant getting the job it would seem that Bilic arriving is dead in the water...

Although, sky sports seem to think this 'might not' necessarily be the case?

They say: 'there have been suggestions that Pompey would then look to bring in a head coach to work under Grant, with Bilic among the names in the frame.'

And Bilic is 'said' to be studying job offers from around Europe, having turned down the Scotland job - then again who would not do that!

To be honest I would be very surprised if Bilic came in to work alongside, well under Grant really - if for no other reason than a financial one - although I would not be against this at all...

Like I say though it is not going to happen, right?

yh i think he would be a good assistantt to avram.
PompeyFcMad
Yes, Yes, yes...get him in alongside Avram.
bluedr
Rug .. you are right .. It is not gonna happen !
Chix
would be brilliant, we'd actually have some charisma for a start lol but the chances of it happening are stupidly slim so i won't be getting my hopes up
pompeym@
would be great ! but can we afford him as well as avram and aswell as paying hart off. that would be near to 10million on wages spent why didnt we spend this on a striker !
pompeyhussler
Not going to happen, we couldn't even get Gary Mac in.
stillthewhizz
Suddenly we are rich? What's happened to the transfer embargo? If it's lifted let AG spend money on decent strikers.

Dream on......there's a chance alright. No Chance. Grant's not a hands on coach though so he's gonna need someone on the shop floor I guess. Who???? here we go again.
cornypomp
When Grant was here last time the players nicknamed him 'The man from the BBC' due to his limited involvement in coaching... BBC stood for Balls, Bibs and Cones.. His contribution to training was to put them out and (afterwards) put them away again... Think we need a No2 .. but still can't see it being Bilic

Bilic is a quality manager, and I am a massive fan of him as you well know. I said back in February that Bilic should take over, and quite frankly I think that getting him in will be KEY to our survival. I can just see him running out to the technical area at Fratton screaming his head off......get him now!!
PFCGino
Would be great to have him, but i dont think he would leave Croatia.
PompeyFcMad
Why??? I just don't get this obsession with the man. He has done nothing in club football. And be fair with the talent available to him at international level, even Tony Adams could put out a winning side. Bilic and Grant, two personalities pulling in opposite directions for themselves, no thanks!
