Pompey/Stoke Live!

If Pompey were a middle distance runner, now would be the time to make their move from the back of the pack, we don't want to be boxed in for much longer and the pacesetters are moving away!

Can Pompey drag themselves off the bottom today? Next week is the sort of game you take what you can from, so today any sort of result is needed, Paul hart has got us playing with spirit, but it is a results business after all.

Pompey: Ashdown; Ben Haim, Kaboul, Wilson, Hreidarsson; Brown, Mullins, Boateng, O'Hara; Dindane, Kanu
Subs: Niemi, Vanden Borre, Williamson, Hughes, Smith, Webber, Piquionne

Stoke: Sorensen, Wilkinson, Shawcross, Huth, Collins, Delap, Diao, Whitehead, Etherington, Beattie, Fuller.

Kanu gets a start eh... now that's interesting, surely not trying for ninety minutes. Is Freddy on the bench?

Kanu starting can't be good. Mullins starting - that's definitely not good. Surprise me boys!

Well we've certainly had the possession and dominated, let's hope we can come out in the second half..do the same and score.

That's history now Mad....we've just got to make sure we don't let them back in the game now. Surely there's a chance we can actually nick this.

right thats it. hart HAS to go now. you cant wait 75 minutes to make a sub, then make the wrong one. then wonder why we are losing. then say its bad luck. **** bad luck. its not bad luck. they score one more than us. who cares how. the final ball for us has been woeful at best!

is it me or is anyone else just really really f'd off now... this is getting repetitive and boring to watch. just like if u wanna win the prem 1-0's are good, u will get relegated with 1-0's as well. wigan lost 9-1 but they have double the points. there ARE worse teams out there, but they can actually get results. weve barely had anything!

Well...what can you say? Ashdown had nothing to do all game. One chance and Stoke stick it in the back of the net. We just don't seem to be able to do the one thing that's necessary...score. Really peed off.

sorry for jinxing the pen...was obvious though. Seriously, if you have to play Kanu for 90+ minutes and you start with Mullins you might as well wave a white flag and go home.

Well once again Hart didn't adjust when the other manager did. That is really poor from him again. He either needs an assistant or we need a new manager. And I agree we are in no way the worst team we just don't have the options going forward and that puts too much pressure on our defense.

oh don't be stupid Hart did nothing wrong. we clearly need a proven premiership goal scorer and we'd be fine but until that point expect more of this!

agreed penton. i ummed and arred about hart going or not. i dont want anyone to lose their job and id like to be a club that stuck by their manager through thick and thin. but unfortunately ive not really seen a thin. we need something new. a fresh idea. but most importantly BEFORE the transfer window!!!

Dindane looked off the pace to me and too often playing too deep to make a difference. What does Tommy Smith have to do to get picked? We need people to run at the oppo like O'Hara and KP are doing. I am fed up with Hart's team selection nonsense.

Seriously depressed now. I've been resisting the urge to say we're doomed, because you're never relegated until its mathematically unavoidable - but it just seems unavoidable now. Unless something happens - and the obvious thing is a manager change.

we cant keep saying we were unlucky !!! we just dont take our chances if we would of scored that pen we would of won today . just like many other games we would of won if we took our chances ...

Sorry but he has to go, we dominated the game then allowed them back in, when we needed to chase the game he did not react quickly enough. Kanu playing is a joke, and Boateng and Mullins are never wide players, absolute disgrace and he is accountable for it.

I agree with pompeym, Hart is not to blame for this defeat. For me his selection (from the squad available) was spot on. Kanu was great linking up the midfield with attack he held up the ball fantastically well and his distribution was very good(most of the times winning free kicks). Mullins although I am not a fan is certainly a better player than the Axe. The midfield although lacking width were creative and full of bite, again we just lack the killer touch when we get that chance. Overall we should still be very positive although three points lost. I do not believe anyone else would get any more from these players, however the good news man to man we had a better team than Stoke and I think we will get out of jail although it will go to the wire. The only ones to blame today are Prince for a soft penalty and the two strikers for allowing him to take it.

Sort of agree, Huddersfield, but Stoke weren't all that on the day - I kept saying "they are jsut as crap as us" but of course got the ball in the net. Hull I am not so sure about. A team with a fit Jimmy Bullard in it isn't going to be easy to deal with. Kanu for 90 mins...why oh why oh why....Hart couldn't find his arse in the dark with BOTH hands. Sorry. He's had long enough.
