'If It's Football, It's Vital'

You might have a point this week...

What does the wonderful world of Mark Lawrenson, the so-called BBC's 'expert pundit', have to offer us this week? Lets see...

Looking at his column on BBC Sport, Lawro's predictions - here, I see that he has us down for, ding, ding, ding, that is correct a defeat at Stoke. Although he was wrong last time out as he expected us to draw 1-1 at Blackburn, and we lost...

This is what he said: 'I think this one will be tight and edgy.

'Portsmouth play decent enough football but the big question when you go to the Britannia Stadium is whether or not you can cope with what Stoke are going to throw at you. Unfortunately, I'm not sure Portsmouth can.

'Verdict: 2-1'

Quite often I am fairly 'critical' of 'Lawro', who I feel - like most of his mates at the BBC - is not that keen on us. Although, to be fair, I think he could well have a point this weekend as we are faced with a very tough task.

'If' we cope with that Stoke 'throw' at us, we could get something and prove him wrong!

What do we think guys?

If Boateng gives us a good game; I mean an exceptional one like the ones he has given us at the beginning, we can have a good result. Albeit this, it all comes down to several factors; luck, good/poor defending, attitude/mentality and tactics. Correct me if wrong, but recently, it has been very hard to predict how Pompey will fair!

Too tough to call in my opinion. I'm hoping the Blackburn defeat has brought us back down to earth after the Wigan game and our defence will be on the ball. Stoke are going to be thinking of adding another home win to their tally, let's not oblige them. I know getting a point is better than losing, but the odd point here and there is not going to get us out of the mire. If we go there to win and create chances, we could actually come away with 3 and be off the bottom of the table. Now that's got to be an incentive....PUP....PPU....

If we've learnt from the mistakes at blackburn (i.e. we've learnt how to defend set peices) - there is every chance we can get a good result here. We have the players to score goals against them - if on form - so it's only a question of whether we can defend the constant set peices that will be thrown against us. if Herman is back, he will help a lot!

I just think they've got too much for us today. The pack is pulling from us and I can't see us getting a good run together to get us out of this mess in time for half the squad leaving for Africa. I hope I'm wrong.

the manager is simply not good enough to get us out of this mess
