Belhadj and Yebda off to the world cup!

Assuming that they are selected Nadir Belhadj and Hassan Yebda will be playing at the world cup next summer.

Algeria confirmed their place in South Africa this evening after beating Egypt 1-0.

After being beaten 2-0 by the Egyptian's dramatically at the weekend Algeria had to have a 'winner takes all' play-off game against the same nation in Sudan, with Antar Yahia scoring the only goal of a 'fiery game' to send the Africans thought. In doing so they gaining revenge that had been 20-years in the making - they lost a play-off in 1989 meaning they missed out on Italia 90...

Congrats to the pair of them, lets just hope that both are still Pompey players by the time this comes around, and of course that both are selected.

Yes he did, with Belhadj in midfield

Belhadj got booked on 55 seconds! What a legend! And he ought to have been sent off but the ref booked the wrong bloke later in the game - mistaken bloke stayed quiet to keep Belhadj on apparently. NB also did some spectacular timewasting. He definitely earned his place in South Africa. Yebda contributed well too apparently.

Belhadj on the world stage .. that's gotta be a sight to look forward to - We're racking up a few players to keep our eye on next summer ... Shame Bergovic & B&H didn't make it ..

Yebda got booked too! Proud of you, boys! Algeria v France would be a good needle match - hope that happens

hopefully we will not be viewing yebda as 'a former' player...
you know that belhadj will get sent off in a world cup game, it is inevitable!
