Unlikely events?

Unlikely events?

Proof that the papers basically 'make up' what they want has surely been seen today, right?

After the accident to Spurs keeper Carlo Cudicini last week it was 'inevitable' that Harry Redknapp would again be 'linked' with a return to Pompey for a keeper, although The Star is today 'claiming' that this keeper he wants is not David James but our no.3, who is currently up to no.2, Jamie Ashdown...

'Apparently' as Ashdown was used 'regularly' under Redknapp - really? - this is the basis to the claims being made.

To be honest, whilst I would not be at all surprised to see Ashdown leave sooner, rather than later - then again I have been thinking this for a few years actually - is this really going to be for a switch to Spurs.

The other 'rumour' that ONCE AGAIN rears its head today is the one about Amr Zaki signing in January - something that Paul Hart has repeatedly said would not be happening and was not something we had wanted to happen back along.

This has not stopped The Mail from 'claiming' that Hart is in actual fact keen on the Egyptian and he will be looking to signing him on loan in the New Year...

As always, with this particular 'link' I am left thinking 'what would be the point?'

The guy is away for the African nations in the early part of the year so how exactly will we benefit - we will need players, assuming out 'embargo' is actually lifted, that can come straight in and do a job right away, something that he would not.

I agree. Its the same with Mcarthy he wont be here with the African Cup of Nations on and we will be left short at a potentially crucial time! Another rumour that has just popped up is we are interested in Darius Vassell. This new one really scares the hell out of me as I cant see this working atall!

south africa will not be playing in the african nations tho will they, so he is a player that i would certainly be looking to ahead of zaki - then again both have 'baggage'...
as for vassell, thanks but no thanks - i was glad we did not move for him in the summer when he was free, i will be glader if we do not move for him in january when he will cost something!

Ofcourse. My mistake. Thinking before speaking (typing). fail. As regards to the 'baggage' the players have, I get the feeling they just want to play football now. For me especially Zaki. Seems like he has had a bit of a reality check!
16/11/2009 13:41:00
He just cant keep his hands off our players can he
16/11/2009 14:16:00
P-F-M presumably he, as much as anybody, knows our dire straits and can 'poach' our players at bargain prices. Plus he knows their capabilities.

Can't see Harry taking Ashdown to tell you the truth...but stranger things have happened. I certainly don't remember Jamie getting many starts under Harry. In fact didn't he throw a hissy fit when Kiely dropped in for a dozen games or so. As for Zaki, I think we could do worse, the guy knows where the back of the net is. As for the bad boy thing, didn't we all think Brown was a thug before he arrived. Well...he's our thug now.

Anyway i heard that Kevin Bond said Cudicini we make a full recovery.
16/11/2009 19:54:00
yeah in a year or so !!! they will pay him millions by the time he gets back ! they will have to sack him.
16/11/2009 21:57:00
ah yh stupid me, didnt read the whole thing.
16/11/2009 22:01:00
redknapp is now after Foster, I think its just Journalists linking him with any worthwhile 'keeper
