'If It's Football, It's Vital'

'Crippling finances' yet still a 'double swoop'...

It never ceases to amaze me, a paper can say one thing in one paragraph, but in the other something that seems to 'totally contradict' everything else is said!

Yesterday evening, and early today, The News of the World seems to have gone into 'overdrive' with Pompey related stories - A LOT seem nothing more than rehashed and reused versions of previous events, mainly previous events they ran anyway...

The most 'interesting' thing of all was, they say - and again not exactly 'new news' is it? - the premier league will be docking £4m from a scheduled £10m TV money payout to pay off debts we owe, which will 'leave us seriously struggling financially', yet in the next breath they are saying we are planning a 'double swoop' for Loic Remy and Hatem Ben Arfa.

You could not make it up could you, well maybe you could...

'Apparently' French international Remy is available for £6m from Nice with 'bad boy' fellow international Ben Arfa, funnily enough a player that I was talking about with a friend last night - totally unrelated as I had not even heard about these 'reports' - available for loan from Marseille with the option of a 'permanent move in the summer.'

The NOTW is 'saying' that Avram Grant is using his 'extensive knowledge of the European transfer market to Hart,' with these just a couple of the names shared.

As always, I think our thinking will be 'lets wait and see'...

Many of us have started thinking over the past few days how things were 'too quiet', is this a worrying thing or a good sign that 'less talk and more action' is actually happening?

Hopefully all will be revealed soon, and in a positive light! That said, this is Pompey we are talking about...

Just read in Arabian News that owner has refinanced and will pay off debts so that ban will be lifted, also enough for new players. Looooong time coming.

Papers talk rubbish and I think the way Pompey have been treated by the press is disgusting considering the people it affects most is us the fans. I just cant believe the way the papers want to embarrass our football club day in day out. I really hate papers
brucey_main
Me too, brucey. I gave up reading them years ago because in this day and age of 'instant news' via TV and the internet they have to 'create' news in order to make sales. I agree with rug 'let's wait and see'.

Yeah.....What ever happened to Dago Marawhotsit? The guy who was gonna fly around the world and bring back the cream of football back to Pompey.......

refinancing is an interesting phrase which means ...well want who ever uses it wants it to mean

I read your posting brucey_main, i take your point we have been an easy target but you do ignore one or two realities, for example; that the club press office have frequently issued information that they new was false and have had to retract it, they have continuously lied to us the fans, the club has made bids for players when they new they could not meet the plainly stated financial terms such that some clubs and agents only deal with us because of the zahavi connection, the club lied about players and transfers, criticised SAF for onofficial media outbursts then did the same, the chief exec is on charges for tax evasion, we had been told by Storrie " my consortium well they we were going to be taken to a new level"AIN'T THAT THE TRUTH, and i bet you can think of more! The only one who seems to have turned up, put some money in and actually cares is the fake sheik whome people now believe ( in the still & west anyway) was ripped off by the clubs true owner Gaydamak Snr (a convicted, corrupt oil and arms smuggler) and Storrie. Lets be honest brucey _ most clubs would do it differently.
