'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Doesn't seem like he is Moroccan pledged to me?

The common thought from many recently was one that Younes Kaboul had 'pledged' his international future to Morocco, this despite the fact I had not heard anything about this commitment myself - not that I know, or hear everything of course!

Well, his most recent thoughts about the Blackburn game, and how he has 'vowed' that he and Marc Wilson will get their defensive partnership 'back on track' against Stoke - following a disappointing 2nd half defensive showing, from all, in that defeat - included thoughts that seem far from a commitment to the African nation...

In fact his comments on The Pompey Site seem to show an indication that he is still very much interested in representing France, who he formerly captained at U21 level.

Younes said: 'it's very flattering if people are mentioning me in terms of the French national team. But they have very experienced centre-backs and I'm still very young.

'I'm concentrating solely on my performances for Portsmouth and getting us out of the bottom three in the Premier League.

'It would be wonderful to play for the national team one day, but I'll leave it to others to decide when.'

Not even a mention of Morocco, so does this suggest that France is the country he 'hopes' to represent at full international level in the future?

If he will be good enough, well that is another matter.

What I would say is he is developing into the very, very good defender, and all-round footballer I expected he would when we signed him given regular football. We said on Vital Pompey this is what he needed; regular football, and then we would see the best of him, as we are...

It'll be good for Younes if he opts for France, good for France, and even better for Pompey.

He is good enough for France but will Domenech pick him? Not that he has long in the job. Go Janice.
