'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Kiely: “No other manager could...'

The former Charlton stopper told the Sun: “Our last few games were always going to be a bit like playground football, in that we were always going to throw men forward as we had to take a chance. We were getting nothing out of being solid and stuff like that. We had to throw caution to the wind and we got some very good results that way.

“People talk about luck but you get what you deserve. We put a great effort in, so thoroughly deserved everything that came our way.

“The knack for the gaffer and the coaches is to get the blend right. You have to bring the right sort of people in and I think they did that.

“I certainly feel I fall into that category of a good, solid citizen.

“If you couple that with the fact there were already good players at the club, it meant the blend was just right.”

Kiely insists describing Redknapp as the ‘king of the relegation battle.'

He added: “He is the top man. To be a manager it is taken as read you know about football, formations and tactics.'

“But it is the other side that is key. It’s how you get the best out of people, how you lift people.

“There are plenty in Pompey’s dressing room who would run through a brick wall for the gaffer.

“No other manager could have done what Harry did here.”

I think he speaks volumes for the off field adulation that they obviously hold for Harry. Some people have it others do not. You could not imagine players running through a brick wall for say Souness.

All he has to do now is learn how to coach a side to defend better or get a coach in who can, and we could be a good side. Although, i might have to ask why the same scummers who were in the top half of the league didn't run through a brick wall for him last year.

Why is it that i cannot formulate how the post is read? I try to put paragraphs and sentences in and it squashes my post up. Booooo

because he didn't show as much passion at scummers as he does at pompey, to do paragraphs do two posts.

So... your saying that you don't think that his heart was in the job at scummerland?
