Pompey get the Villa

Pompey were rewarded for their exploits in the Carling (League) Cup with a home tie against Aston Villa.

Most fans would probably have favoured drawing Blackburn Rovers but a home draw in the quarter final of any competition is a big bonus. It is also the only tie outside of Lancashire.

The full draw is

Blackburn v Chelsea

Manchester City v Arsenal

Manchester United v Tottenham

Pompey v Aston Villa

Games are played in the week commencing 30th November.

It is a good draw! Pompey can win this one if we play with the a winning attitude. It is much better than playing Chelsea or United. A good draw I must say.

Let's hope Villa put out a weakened side ;-)

They won't. PFCblue. Villa see this as their own chance for silverware - M'ON wants to win something.

No chance PFCblue. We're going all out to win this. Guzan's got the spirit of Bosnich in him. This is our competition. First ever winner and have appeared in more finals than anyone else (I think - correct me if I'm wrong). We want it back. It's a shame we're not at home but I think you'll find we are very happy to have avoided the Sky 4. UTV!

Aston Vanilla couldn't win a cup if they ordered a cream tea in Plymouth.

After winning against a Wigan team that smashed Chelsea few weeks ago, we can win any time; if we have the winning mentality, which we seem having!

As long as it doesn't detract from our leauge fight, cos it's incredibly important to maintain the impetus after our win over Wigan. If we have no injuries and can field a strong team there's a good chance we could do Villa....

Why oh why doe they insist on playing these games when I'm on shift. I haven't been able to get to any of the Carling cup games yet, so unless they play that game on the Monday night I can't get there as I won't get home from London until about 8 to 8.30 depending on the traffic.
