'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Now that one I would agree with!

I have found some of the 'official' Air Malta man of the match awards 'strange' to say the least this season, although I think it is fair to say that on the whole Freddy P was a worthy winner this time round for the league cup win over Stoke.

The Pompey Site today confirmed that he had earned this, and I think earned it is the right word - he, like so many to be fair, did put in a very good shift and lest we forget did score a couple of goals!

The goals, added with the assist for one of the others, a full 90 minutes and this man of the match acknowledgment should do him plenty of good and will only enhance his claims for a recall to the side for the game against Wigan at the weekend.

Whilst I could clearly see why he would get this recall I still think that perhaps he might have to be content with a place on the bench though...

Personally, I would have never dropped him. True, he didn't score, but Dindanne haven't scored either...and had better opportunities! Smith and Piquionne should be up front against Wigan.

as i've said a couple of times i still think webber should be upfront his finishing could be so, so crucial for us this season, but freddy definatly deserves a 1st team place after his performance last night. but then smiths done nothing wrong really but i suppose he has scored has he.... difficult 1

I agree - webber was my man of the match personally - although Piquionne wasn't an unworthy winner either

Simples: Personally I think all the four strikers should be considered and perhaps all utilised. That is Hart starts with his first chosen pairing 1st half in a 4.4.2 (mine would be Smith and Piquionee) and if that has worked with a lead by half time. He leaves alone until 60/65 mins then, takes off one of the forwards who perhaps is tiring (could be Piqu) changing with a hungry Dindanne. Then if winning leave it, till last 10 when if felt Smith had given his all, change him for Kanu. BUT, if losing at half time, Hart needs to change at least one of the strikers at half time....He must sub earlier and give the opposition defences more to think about for longer..

Needs to do it on the league; lest we get Eugene Bopp
