Al Faraj interview denied

Last night Mark Jacobs was said to have told people that 'damning' quotes attributed to Ali Al Faraj were false, and belonged to a third party and a statement would be issued...

Not quite a statement, but a few lines were given to The News this morning in denial of any interview being given: 'my client has not made such quotes nor given an interview. It seems to me that this is the work of a third party trying to stir things up.'

This was soon followed up with a statement issued on The Pompey Site, which reads: 'Portsmouth FC owner Ali Al Faraj would like to assure fans that quotes attributed to him in a Saudi Arabian newspaper and subsequently published in some of today's tabloid press, are completely false and untrue.

'Mr Al Faraj has not given any interviews to any form of the media and legal proceedings will now begin against the publications that published the alleged quotes and interview.

'The club believes this is the work of a third party who will also face legal action.

'The same Saudi Arabian newspaper last week published a story on Portsmouth FC quoting Sulaiman al Fahim and the content was subsequently retracted.'

As said in a 'rant' last night, words NEED to be followed up with actions now, we - well at least I know I - have had more than enough of words, so lets see some positive actions of intent taken to actually move to put minds at rest, as it seems everywhere we turn now there is something lurking round the corning waiting to attack us!

As far as the 'legal proceedings' being taken goes, once again I would like to see physical proof of this happening - we have constantly said over the past 18-months or so that we would take 'action' against various parties who have said various things, but it does not often seem we have...

If the 'so-called' interview is as much of a complete fabrication as is said lets make those doing this pay the full price! Do they not realise how damaging these things are?

All in all though once again fantastic, and perfectly ideal preparations for a huge game coming up this weekend isn't it...

Oh look-out! Somebody is gonna get it in the neck .. Who can the third party be ... Answers on a Postcard to:

Who keeps gobbing-off about Pompey Competition
C/O Ali Al-Fahaj
Fratton Park
Portsmouth

The thing is, any one of us could put on a Saudi accent and pretend to Al Faraj. Nobody know what he sounds like and we only have a poor quality picture to go by. He's probably some binman from Leigh Park.

I'm with Chix, Come On You Bowls. Ha ha ha ha.

all this bowls talk does sound pretty tempting i got to admit lol and again we'll have to just wait and see what happens if the papers involved do get sued then we know it was all aload of cr*p if they don't well then who knows... but i don't see why a new owner would say that sort of stuff in an interview so have no reason to believe any of its true

I still think the good "doctor" has got something to do with it all,he is clearly a publicity seeker and to keep throwing snippets of gossip at the media keeps his name popping up now and then.

Personally I think it's all a load of bowls ;-)

Not so sure on getting a quick solution to the mystery 3rd party using the "Gob Off Competition" Chix....what with the postal strike etc. Anyway for what it's worth I've posted off my guess - Avril Bovril....SAF's mate. I wonder if there's a reward?

I'm my comment- okmisery rant on Rugs article I said a denial was insufficient; legal action for breach of confidence won't be sufficient but legal action for slander, defamation or false statement will be. Let's see it happen

I've been abroad for a couple of months, so I have out of the loop a bit on what's going on at Fratton Park. Then I look at Vital Pompey this morning and it's like I haven't been away, I must be living in a parallel universe because when I went away away SAF was trying to stump up money to buy the Club, now we have another owner who may not be the real deal. Looks to me like the only one who ever trusted an Arab was Lawrence of Arabia!! As an aside I went to see a live Pompey game in a bar one night when I was away, wearing a Pompey t-shirt, I was greeted with hysterical laughter by a mixed audience of other Premier league supporters whom I had never met. I have taken a lot of stick from people for being a Pompey fan over the years but I have always been proud of my allegiance. On this particular night being a laughing stock was not an experience I liked at all. Come on PFC do something to make me proud again.

Matt LeTissier did it!
.Andrew.
Whoever did it obviously doesn't think we've been through enough recently do they? It rings true to me that it would be fake because, unlike another Arab who is involved with the club, Al Faraj does not court publicity and keeps himself to himself, and is not known for giving interviews to the press. Thank *** for that!

certainly wasn't me! so stop saying it was bowls ;)

Dear All, I have very close relationship with Mr Ali Al Faraj, and actually he is on the phone to me now as I am writing this message for you all...... He states that he is a big supporter of Portsmouth FC and he will never let down the club. There will be a big suprise for everyone, especially the supporters before the end of next week. The club's issues with the revenue will come to an end and we will witness a great turn around of the clubs league and financial and performance. Mr Ali Al Faraj's brother will be at the game tomorrow against Hull and will be wearing the Portsmouth FC logo as a badge and will be sitting two seats away from Mr Peter Storrie. Last but not least, a budget of 30m will be made available to the club within the next 14 days. Regards Shaz22
