Davids 'interest' denied

Davids 'interest' denied

There are no quotes included, or any so-called 'sources' - although to be fair you could say the same about the original 'links' on Monday - but according to The News this morning 'Pompey have denied claims that they are in talks with veteran Dutch midfielder Edgar Davids.'

It was The Mail that came out with the 'exclusive' yesterday claiming that former Dutch international Edgar Davids was coming to Fratton, but this seems, as I guess it always was, a long shot and a no go...

We will have another midfielder returning tonight thought perhaps as Papa Bouba Diop could return in the reserve game against Fulham at Westleigh Park.

Diop, who has signed a new contract during his absence, is pencilled in to return to action tonight as he 'steps up' his return from a hamstring injury picked up against Birmingham earlier in the season.

The guy will have a fight to get back into the side, but he is certainly another option and a decent one if he can find the kind of form - in a central role - that he was starting to show a little of last season before his serious injury lay-off.

His return, assuming there are no reactions to it, would be another nail in the coffin of Angelos Basinas' Pompey career though - the Greek is already well down the selection process and his weekend 'admission' that he will look to move on in January if he is not getting more game time will not have helped...

Another rumour bites the dust, thank goodness in this case. Good news about Diop.

No doubt we will be linked with the usual A to Z of players as we roll towards the January window. Diop, time to recover & repay our faith in you. A few goals would be handy.

If someone to get Diop to shoot below the cross bar ge could be quite an asset

i think diops a good player and we miss his power in the middle. plus his hight from set pieces defending them. maybe if he was playing sat king wouldnt of scored. i think he would work well with o'hara and prince in the middle he gives us options . smith, diop, prince, brown,o'hara would be a good midfield away from home . brown in holding roll.

No Crawley return for Tubbs

Tubbs doesn't have a future at Pompey, he's on the transfer-list but offloading him could be difficult given his wages. These wouldn't be anywhere within Crawley's reach.

Pitfalls of Sheffield Wednesday loanee returning

As Catlin put it 'the gamble' of aiming sign Sheffield Wednesday loanee Lavery has to be one Pompey fans understand. It isn't as cut and dried as saying 'he's a free agent' sign him!

Lassie coming home...well sort of!

A-box-to-box player, capable of defensive duties, with ability to burst forward with intent to make things happen - Diarra is Pompey's man and wants an England return. I jest of course!

Will pair stay at Fratton?

It's been made (more than once) clear by Catlin Pompey want Davies & Hollands to stay. Both (also more than once) have said they want to this - deals have to be right for all concerned.
