Peter Storrie has today told The News that Jamie O'Hara will be staying with Pompey until the end of the season, at least...
When we got the Spurs midfielder on loan we 'claimed' that this was a loan for the season, well at least until January with us having the option to extend until the end of the season - although Spurs have since said that he is going back to White Hart Lane in January?
Storrie insists that he has not be told anything about this and as far as he is concerned we will extend this loan in January: 'there has been nothing from Spurs that Jamie will be going back in January, nothing at all.
'As far as we are concerned, we have an option to keep Jamie until the end of the season. That can be taken up in January if he is enjoying himself - and he is.'
O'Hara came to Fratton because he wanted to play 1st team football, and that is what he is doing and will continue to do for the remained of the season if we kept him, which I am sure he would want as he is not going to get into the Spurs team if he returned in the New Year is he?
So, it suits everyone for this to be extended, and it seems that he is more than happy to stay - he has never said anything otherwise, and his reactions to the fans after every game are not those of someone that is keen to return to Spurs anytime soon are they!
Storrie has also refused to rule out the chance that this could become a permanent transfer down the line: 'perhaps there would be a chance of doing something permanent, we will have to wait and see.'
O'Hara is doing well so far and would be happy for him to stay, but I am just happy for him to be here at all at the moment - extending this loan deal until the end of the season would be one of the priorities for me in the New Year as we are going to lose a few players to the African nations, especially midfielders.
That said, the thoughts on how long we do keep him, from the minute he signed I have said that I would be surprised if he returned to Spurs, at least for long before moving on somewhere else - I cannot see him featuring for them as he is already down the selection list and will only slip further down, as Spurs will reinforce in January and next summer...

No go for Zaki
Storrie also spoke to The News about Amr Zaki and played down the suggestion that he will be signing when the transfer window reopens: 'that's news to us, we know nothing about it.
'It is nothing to do with us. It seems other people have got involved in all of this.
'It's probably just the player's agent talking again - that's usually the case.'
To be fair to Zaki and I guess to SAF, who had previously made the claims that he would bring him to Pompey, I do not think that the 'reports' in the media now are anything more than rehashed and reused ones - SAF made his 'promises' months and months back, and if anything this is Zaki making a few 'new' comments to get his name noticed again.
Clearly SAF no longer carries the sway to have enough backing to bring Zaki in, even if the management wanted the Egyptian - this is not something that SAF can decide... It would seem that the management and the more powerful board members do not, and have not wanted him anyway?
Either way, signing Zaki would be a pointless exercise for me in January as he would be away for the African nations so we would not benefit from him, so I feel we would be much better served looking elsewhere - I would also have serious concerns about him rocking a boat that seems pretty settled and united at the moment!
So, there you go guys your thoughts on Storrie's own on O'Hara and Zaki are welcomed - as always leave your comments below...
