And there it is...

And there it is...

...words that were bound to happen, sooner or later!

To be honest, apart from a possible fans interview I will give to Vital Spurs - as they will to us - and the summarisation of the latest poll, when it ends, I had just about said all I wanted to about the former manager and players returning this weekend.

That said, I have been waiting for his 'they were rubbish before 'I' got them to this and that' speech and sure enough, today it arrived in The Mail: 'if I'd been the worst manager Portsmouth had ever seen and got them relegated, turning out lousy teams they should have the hump.'

'But they were bottom of the Championship when I went there and we became a top eight Premier League side, winning the FA Cup. The fans saw players there that they'll probably never see the likes of again.

'Lassana Diarra is with Real Madrid now, Muntari's at Inter Milan... look at the quality of players they saw at the club.'

Once again I can only say, as I have already this week, that I do appreciate the good times we had and the absolutely world-class players we had - even if some turned out to be nothing more than footballing mercenaries - but once again he, like so many, seems to be missing the point of the 'hump' that we have...

What was achieved, and the costs this came at - not that I would change it I have to admit - does not justify the way he walked out on us, and the reasons for doing this, no matter what is said! Sorry, that is how I feel - justifying leaving one club, that you 'promised' you would not again, the club that you made 'a mistake' leaving first time round that was 'your spiritual home' when you knew you would no longer have any money spend for one where you would is just indefensible for me...

All this said I will not be 'shouting and screaming' at him at the weekend I will be supporting my team.

Justification of what we paid for players, what we paid them in wages and what we got when they were sold is something that was also pleaded and he said that he will 'walk out there with my head held high because I'm proud of what I achieved at Portsmouth,' doing this without bodyguards as that was played down as 'absolute rubbish.'

Of course he also had to have something to say about David James, insisting that he is happy with who he has and he thinks that 'he'll end up staying' with us but as he is 'still a fantastic goalkeeper' he expects that others will be 'interested.'

Again, this has not been written as an attack on him as such, or looking for people to attack him, it has just been written to point out those 'famous words' that we knew he would trot out - although to be honest I am surprised they have come so late in the week, I was banking on them at the start of the week to be honest...

I will also once again end by saying, and these thoughts above do not mean I will be doing anything other than 'what I preach', lets ensure that we spend time, effort and energy supporting Portsmouth Football Club this weekend, not wasting this on anti-supporting.

Can i just pint out that Pompey ween't bottom of the championship when he came and we didn't finish in the top 8 either season. In fact, Twitchys obsession with football' royalty' cost us 8th in the first good season -Lauren cost a fortune and wages, was past it and disrupted the team. Lauren is a perfect example of Rednapps culpability in the financial demise -huge wages for a player not good enough for the reserves

I was listening to this on Talk Sport as it aired! Wasn't surprised to hear it, and you can't argue with his points. BUT ! it isn't a fair and reasoned story of the whole sorry episode, which in his defence is the fault of the biased press/reporters/interviewers, in this case Mike Parry (who lives among other places in Gosport). They continually fail to bring up the other side of the story....Why did you walk out hours before a game, Spiritual Home, Pompey 'til I die!, I've learnt my lesson...what about the cut you were on for each transfer profit made? Yes, Harry you bought us success, flair, silverware and all at a cost (not all your fault - Sacha and the board must take their share of the blame!) Huge unsupportable debt (regardless of the credit crunch), your not stop self publicising ego, and the fact that PFC became HR football club. I enjoyed the ride (trips to Wembley and into Europe will be with me forever), and will always be grateful to you and others that brought that to Pompey - but because we took you to our hearts (because of what you said), the way that you TWICE left us in the lurch and your behaviour during and after each sorry affair it has left a very bitter taste in the mouths of Pompey Fans - something you consistently fail to understand! So what? Like you are now famous for saying - there is no loyalty in Football (you've changed your tune) not even on £3M+ a year (what does that buy then?) - Well get this - You showed no loyalty, so why should we - Each fan on Saturday will make their choice, and unlike you we pay to do so! so take your medicine - some will applaude you, some will abuse you ! You were paid handsomely for your time here, we owe you nothing (about the only person we don't owe anything to!) - So get off your high horse and concentrate on your own club - Leave ours alone. PS - Get out of Southsea and stick to Sandbanks! PUP

HR believes his own publicity It wouldn't do to portray the 'other' Harry.

BarneyArmy, that's a decent rant, hope it helped!
Seriously, that's all nothing compared to the '2pts from 8 games when I came here' mantra we've had to listen to ever since!

Thanks Spursex - 2 more sessions on the couch and that should do it !!
14/10/2009 17:51:00
It wouldn't even have been so bad if it hadn't been the second time! Can't imagine Spurs taking back a manager who defected to the Gooners can you? They can't even get over Sol and that was years and years ago.
14/10/2009 17:53:00
In the bit I heard on the BBC he sounded really rattled - just what we need! PUP
14/10/2009 18:44:00
I just watched the full interview on the BBC site. He was very very defensive, and couldn't understand what he had to be ashamed of. He certainly wasn't happy at being questioned - thats gotta point to a guilty conscience even if he wouldn't admit it. Methinks he doth protest too much!! PUP

Barny M8, sport is presented by morons.. to entertain morons ..and sponsored by the moron press. Personally I only rate Hawksbee and Jacobs who are intelligent and witty, and Danny Baker who I only wish would team back up with his good mate Danny Baker. It’s like standing under a liquid version of the Sun newspaper that permeates crap into your skin. TURN IT OFF man, switch to a better station, listen to 5live. …not motor mouth Stan Collymore???? and Adrian arrogant Durham .."bowtime!".. belch time more like… its all so chavvy and patronizing…medium wave Bovine excrement..turn it off man.
