James injury worry?

It seems to be that most things are about David James at the moment, and this continues as he now looks doubtful for England tomorrow, which would then raise concerns about his fitness for the game against Spurs at the weekend - and that for me is more of a concern!

Having been set to reclaim his no.1 spot it is 'said' that James sat out the entire training session today, which leaves him as a serious doubt for the Belarus game - although, like I say, him missing out for us against Spurs would be our priority.

Also, in case it was missed on the other James article today Peter Storrie has told The News that 'reports' linking him with either Spurs or Manyoo are 'a load of rubbish' and he is going nowhere: 'it's a load of rubbish, it really is.

'David is under contract and it will be staying that way.

'He's happy and we are happy - David's going absolutely nowhere.

'We don't need to sell him and we have no interest in doing so. People should ignore these rumours, that's all they are.'

Again, as I said in that article this is good to hear but we have heard the 'we do not need to sell' before, and it did not always pan out that way - hopefully the situation really has changed now though? I would still be happier if I heard these thoughts coming from Jamo's mouth to be honest, lets just hope we do in the days and weeks ahead...

Our priority at the moment though is this weekend and we just have to hope that this apparent injury is not anything major and he will be fit for us, even if he is not fit for England tomorrow!

well to be fair rug jamo is in ukraine or belerus training so he prolly doesn't even know about these 'rumours' let alone be in a position to comment on them, but either way i'm sure there aload of rubbish :)

oh i would be amazed if jamo did not know about these rumours - afterall he has been back in england since, what sunday?
as it is i am more concern about his fitness for saturday at the moment - there does not seem to be alot of news coming out on how serious any inury is, if it is any injury?
pompeyrug
Is it an injury or just precautionary? I haven't heard he's ruled out of Wednesday's game yet? As fit as Jamo keeps himself, he's no spring chicken any longer, and sometimes when players get older it is prudent for them to miss some of the training sessions sometimes, I remember reading that on some days Sol didn't train and just went for a massage instead. I don't think we should panic yet, and even if the worst happens for the Spurs game, don't forget we have a very able young keeper in Asmir Begovic.

Spurs is amassive game for us & far more important than the 'meaningless' game with Belarus. Age maybe catching up with Jamo so hopefully it's rest he needs.
storagematt
if he is injured, i hope england dont play him, we need him on saturday.

Some already construe this injury as somewhat convenient, no need to play against your future team? He knows about the rumours yet hasn't directly said anything himself, Storries words will do nothing to stop mischief making, he does not have a mass of credibility lately coupled with the fact Jamo is known to not get on with Hart, one can see how these rumours get going. TBH I don't know if it is true or not, I hope not, I guess we will have to see how Jamo performs post England.
russellm
honestly i'm not actually that worried about jamo missing the game, he'd be missed for sure but i really like bergovic and as i was saying during the last england match i think he could easily step in and do the job for us if Jamo is injured or even if the worst came to the worst and he left.
pompeym@
It's his knee - having a fitness test tomorrow.
PFCblue
I'd rather have him fit for Saturday.
Lemmi
surely there is nothing sinister about this russ? jamo would not risk his england place, sitting out training just to get out of playing against spurs - that is conspiracy theories going into overdrive..
pompeyrug
This proves there's no need to go for him to go to Spurs to guarantee his England place, it's more to do with him being injury free and unfortunately father time is catching up with him. I have now found and read his article in the Observer, and says a lot of positive things about Pompey and that he doesn't need to leave the club for his England place - so he pretty much HAS said he wants to stay at Pompey. I agree though, we don't want him risked tonight, lets hope Capello plays Hart.
tracyc
Begovic has gone on loan to Ipswich Town! Just when we might need him. So Jamo staying injury free has suddently become crucial. Not sure about the wisdom and timing of that decision.
tracyc
Disappointed he didn't play tonight, but deserves the no.1 jersey for the world cup
