Bring in Belhadj

'Nadir Belhadj should come in with Jamie O'Hara ineligible to face Spurs', not my vote, yours - although these findings from pompeyrug's poll are thoughts that I tend to agree with in a way but cannot see happening to be honest...

As O'Hara is on-loan from Spurs rules prevent him from facing the club that owns him - remember the fiasco with Newcastle a few years back when an on-loan Lomana LuaLua scored against the barcodes! So, Paul Hart has to make at least one change from the side that beat Wolves, hopefully this would be the only change needed.

For me Belhadj would be too much of an 'attacking option' and with Kevin-Prince Boateng and Hassan Yebda, who seems to be a fairly offensive player really, that leaves only Michael Brown as the out-and-out defensive option from the midfield diamond Hart is going with so I would think it is almost nailed on that Aaron Mokoena will come in to add further defensive steel to the side.

Angelos Basinas could do a similar job to Mokoena, but with more quality on the ball, but the guy seems to have slipped right off the radar as has Richard Hughes, with Hayden Mullins most likely to come in ahead of either of these. Although like I say I would be amazed if Hart did not recall Mokoena and no doubt reappoint him as captain, but time will tell...

  • What the poll asked - Who should come in for O'Hara against Spurs?

  • How you voted - Belhadj 62%, Basinas 21%, Mokoena 6%, Mullins 4%, Other 4%, Hughes 3%

Before we move on what are your thoughts on what the last poll concluded? You know what to do, thoughts below please guys...

I think we should use Belhadj on Saturday to give the Spurs defence some stick. Admittedly Lennon will cause problems as will Defoe, if playing, but if we put them on the back foot from the start we can beat them.

I voted for Basinas, as I think he brings a little bit of creatitivity to midfield, but maybe you guys are right, Belhadj would bring that bit extra commitment, and we do want to get stuck in against the spuds.

Not a chance Belhadj will play v Spurs ... Hart will (and should) go with a 433/451 ... Mokeona will repalce O'Hara.. simples.. but then again PH has surprised us a few times this season already...

as a fan of attacking football, i think Belhadj would be my option. In reality i think he will opt for The Axe. mind you, i wouldnt mind seeing Basinas playing - he hasnt really had much of a chance

Hart will rightly in my opinion be afraid of Lennon and Defoe, our defence is quite frankly not up to it, therefore I think Hart will fill midfield and plump for Mokoena who is deffinetly not up to it; going to be a tough game this one.

disagree about the defence russ, i think this is getting stonger - we need finnan to stay fit, easier said than done, and need to look at left back but all in all i do not think it is that bad... what we tend to be lacking is pace, but i am hopefully that the positional sence can compensate for this...
