'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Hart is the man Grant is an ally

'Avram Grant will not become the next Pompey manager', not my vote, yours - although these findings from The Rabbi's poll are thoughts that I agree with, to an extent...

I think it is fair to say that my initial reaction, and I would say it is a fair reaction, was 'Grant will take over as the boss before too long.'

And, lets be honest here, there is - assuming we cannot build on recent performances and string some results together - every chance that a change could, well in fact would be made. Although I do not believe that Grant has been brought in to be Hart's replacement, he is not hovering above him waiting to step into his shoes - 'maybe' he 'could' in time, but that is not the purpose of the appointment.

Grant has a wealth of experience that can only help Hart, so as long as he takes this constructive input onboard it can only be a good thing for Pompey, so everyone, in theory, is a winner - it gives Hart a helping hand with the technical issues and also takes some of the media issues from him, as I am sure that the former Israeli manager will help with this as well.

This is another part of the restructuring of the club, but - and again I stress this is not what I want - we do have that 'back-up plan' in place should we not turn things around, as Grant would be the obvious choice to turn to.

All in all lets view this appointment as the positive step it is intended to be and a move that is in the clubs best interests.

  • What the poll asked - Avram Grant will become Portsmouth manager

  • How you voted - He won't become Portsmouth manager 46%, By Christmas 30%, In 2010 13%, Tomorrow 6%, During November 3%, By the end of October 2%, Next week 0%

Before we move on what are your thoughts on what the last poll concluded? You know what to do, thoughts below please guys...

Grant is obviously in pole position should we still be bottom come December, but let's hope our hard working bunch are moving in the right direction before then.

I think all the time he is there we have a manager in waiting should anything drastic happen - but let's hope it doesn't as. as has been said on a number of occassions 'that is not the purpose of the appointment'. I think the result of the poll shows just how much Paul HArt is winning over the fans with his never say die and battle for everything attitude.. long may it continue..

I wish Paul Hart every success with the team and would be so sorry for him if it didn't work out, cos when no one else wanted to know, he was there for us and stayed with us, through thick and thin.

['Avram Grant will not become the next Pompey manager', not my vote, yours] My maths isn't bril but by my reckoning 54% have voted that he WILL become the next manager.

It's a good move to bring AG back but I think PH will be manager at the end of the season as he's getting the players to work well as a team and the results will come.

As I said a few weeks ago I am gonna support PH I think he has done really well with limited funds but I also like the appointment of Avram he will be an asset to PH and if all goes tits up a perfect replacement

I think it's only a matter of time before Grant takes over.

AG will be on the bench, too. That's good news.

Question: is a DoF above, below, or equal to a Manager in a clubs pecking order? If he's above it would mean there must be a lot of diplomacy to take place on the bench, eg. if AG wants a tactical change but PH sees it another way who's going to have the final say?
